making money off gay people? what? how? most of the writers are straight, most of the actors are straight, most…
From reading your conversation, I'd say it was the fetishization comment.
I think part of the problem lies in how you define "fetishization".

● A sexual kink for a certain object, body part or activity. (Classic textbook psychological definition)
● An excessive or irrational devotion to an object, activity, etc [source: Dictionary.com]
● The romanticization and glamourization of a group of people usually based on prejudices, stereotypes and ignorance about them; often a masked or seemingly inverted form of racism, sexism etc. that appears positive on the surface but may be harmful or exploitative for the group in question.

Sometimes people mean one of these definitions when they use the word, and sometimes a mix of them. I'd say that straight men's interest in watching porn with two women having sex is usually more of a sexual kink than any form of romanticization of lesbians, whereas straight women's interest in watching or reading about two men falling in love (and kissing/having physical intimacy) is a combination of the two (and other factors), in various proportions depending on the individual woman.
(I am intentionally excluding LGBTQ+ people as consumers of BL from this analysis simply because I don't feel I have the right or competence to speak for them in this matter.)

I am a BL/MM romance fan myself and because I also want to be a real LGBTQ+ ally, I have spent a lot of time thinking about how and why I am drawn to LGBTQ+ media, and I think it's very multilayered and complex issue -- not something that can be explained simply by calling it a "fetish", though I also won't claim that that would be completely wrong. Still, any attempt to explain it properly would require much more space than this comment section allows. Like you said, I am more in it for the romance than for the sexual titillation of it, though I wont deny that the latter can be a factor. Personally, I prefer narratives that try their best to not gloss over or misrepresent real life LGBTQ issues and are respectful to the community, but I also want butterflies and happy endings in my romance, whether it's straight or not.
For the record, I am a grey ace/grey aro cishet woman.

I feel like part of it has to be the translation. B/c the last episode line "if I wasn't sick I'd give my body…
Maybe part of it is, but I've watched poorly translated dramas that were still recognisably good... First time I watched He's Coming To Me was with very dodgy fansubs and I could still tell it was a great series (I'm so happy it's out with good translation now). This... not so much. Bad script, bad editing. The acting is okay, but they didn't have a lot to work with.
I'll still watch for the fluff, but I am slightly disappointed.

I guess arranged marriages are still a thing, and for some people they probably work, but how can you think it's…
About the teacher-student relationship: I do remember that inapproriate teacher, but it happened so early on, and I didn't remember which student it happened to, or was even sure it was the same series. I really hope that's how they are going to play it (Nice Young Teacher stepping in and stopping inappropriate behaviour). Overall they have a big problem with the teaching staff in this school, trying to bully and coerce the students into programs they don't want just because of the school's reputation -- I loved how Prab stepped in with Chol! And we have seen Nice Young Teacher react with shock when he heard them do it. (And I feel you with the names - I usually refer to the cast list for the secondary names, which doesn't work here because it's so incomplete!)

About the number of eps: Oh, that's much better! Because *something* needs to happen before the end of the series, even if they are getting a second season.

That's really weird! You should report it as a website bug. Maybe because the series title is so generic the site…
It's not my topic, I found that it already existed when I went to create a similar one myself. I have reported it, but it was some time ago and perhaps I should do it again.

That's true, and it's one of the strong points wth the series. I'm not a fan of it, but I will watch to the end with an open mind.

Title Brothers Spoiler
So it turns out that Chol (and a lot of people here) were wrong about their parents. (Cont'd below under spoiler…
I guess arranged marriages are still a thing, and for some people they probably work, but how can you think it's a good idea to marry two people who already have strong, loving relationships with other people? I remember saying that nothing of what Chol found was proof of an affair during the marriage, and I'm happy that I was correct. (And I'm VERY happy that they didn't turn out to be biological half-brothers, even though I know it doesn't really matter.)

I'm still frustrated by the slooooow progression of the romance between Chol and Prab. It's just the same things over and over again, Prab getting jealous of Khun and Chol getting jealous of Nick. It doesn't look like anything is going to get a satisfactory resolution. I'm also still not happy about the teacher-student thing, and now the student is even getting flak for it.

Tum and Tiffy have to be the best straight couple in a BL series EVER. I just love everything about them. And…
That's true -- he didn't recognise Tum either! Maybe he has a lighter form of prosopagnosia.

Title Lovely Writer Spoiler
There are things I loved and things I liked and things I disliked about this episode. Loved: Tum and Tiffy
Tum and Tiffy have to be the best straight couple in a BL series EVER. I just love everything about them. And Tiffy being bi!
Nubsib's and Gene's interactions are cute in the first part of the episode. Sib's comments about "not talking to strangers" and "not posting pictures of himself" are borderline red flags, but Gene doesn't let him get away with it, which makes me relax about it.

BUT. The Big Reveal and the ensuing confrontation were so, so badly written.
1. How did not Nubsib anticipate this? He absolutely knows that Gene's parents live next door to his, and that they are friends.
2. How did not Gene remember him at all? Sure, different surname, 5-6 years age difference, having been abroad for a few years... but still? Bad memory for faces? But that should have been established before, if so.
3. Nubsib repeating "Please let me explain", and then just standing there saying nothing. For ages. Twice. I do understand that they wanted to milk the scene for *EmOTiOnS*, but they could have done that with, you know, actual lines? It might even have been better? I do think Nubsib genuinely cares about Gene (and probably has for a long time, maybe even for years), but he really messed up this time, and he needs to say something. Surely he didn't bank on Gene never figuring it out? Because how stupid would that be? Surely he has a good explanation to hand? No? He really doesn't come off in the best light here.

There are so many ways this plot twist could have been done better and revealed better, and handled better. I am ANNOYED.
