According to many critics, this season would determine the future of medical dramas. As there is a clash of styles…
Tokyo MER is something new for the audience, It's like weekly Tokusatsu (KR/Sentai/Ultraman/etc) but for adults. While Night Doctor is too "generic" for a medical drama, although it is better story-wise.
I think that the first half is a bit meh (except episode 3-4), While the second half is a complete wild ride. This drama is near perfect, but I have issue with Kitami's past, Tsubaki's motivation and Minh.
The way they're revealing Kitami's past is not dramatic, it's like "oh you operate on a terrorist, but we didn't ask" instead of having some member doubting his credibility.
(AFAIK) Eliott is a Nikkei (Diaspora)/non-Japanese citizen, but he wants to "reform" Japan, it's just plain stupid IMO. At first I was expecting something bigger from LP9, like a huge underground organization or something similar.
Phuongchi (Minh) is trying so hard to have a foreigner accent since Japanese is her first language. They should've trained her prior the drama or cast another Southeast Asian. Morisaki Win is the best choice IMO.
Adding Police and Politics as regular element would make this show much more exciting and having a director with Tokusatsu (especially Sentai) experience will be a huge addition to this show.
