Nah, this is worse compare to X2.

This is the first Doctor X without the late Matsuda Hidetomo, I think that's the main cause. He and Yonekura is like KudoKan with Nagase Tomoya.
IMO the decline start in Season 6 (Bad editing, they relegate Akira and Jonouchi into a background character, too episodic). Season 3 is the peak of this show, should've end that in season 5.

I question their decision to have pandemic on this show. The healthcare workers are inconsistently wear mask and protective suit, even Hachisuka's faction who really paranoid about the droplets. Also Akira is able to accompany Daimon when she's Covid-19 positive without any protective suit. It's better to not having covid at all, cheaper cost and it would not create some cringy moment in the show.

Always feel bad for him carrying a whole drama. luckily there's Hanzawa Naoki and Legal High.

Is there a way to make this season non-cannon?

Disappointed with the way Avalanche executing Yasujiro, I expect them to ship him to organ dealer or something similar, although its kinda hinted that the show will be gradually darker.

Love these kind of show, it's like "dele" but darker. But I'm pretty disappointed with (Spoiler below). Promising start, I hope that they didn't messed up.

Underrated?

This is Tsutsumi Yukihiko's weakest "buddy" drama. The iconic cinematography is underused, too much plot hole, the final arc is pretty rushed, and they're using too much 70-80's pop culture refference.

The Pandemic ends on Episode 2 judging from the teaser.
