Okay WTF is this legal eagle rubbish!!! If you ain't gonna comply with the most basic legal principles why bother doing a legal drama?!
A lawyer represents both parties in a violence case, both the victim and the perpetrator?! In what universe would this not be a conflict of interest?!
Hui Ji goes off on her lil goody miss two shoes adventure violating her clients' confidentiality and providing unsolicited legal advice to people whose interests are directly the opposite of her clients'!
Then a lawyer who has been one for 10 yrs mind you, who has met with a potential client gets told to offload that client cos the opposing party pays more?!! Then the Principal states that the potential client never retained them and it's not even against the Attorney at law Act?!! And all a 10 year veteran has to say is, this could be a problem?! How about that they are in violation of that same Act as the potential client doesn't necessarily have to have signed anything to retain them in order to establish a client/solicitor relationship! They had already shared details of the matter therefore they should be bound by confidentiality alone!
This kind of lazy writing infuriates me hence my very very low score!
On top of that, the lawyers are dull af, is that the point of the show? To show how beaten they are by the system? Then at least make the facts make sense!!!
Why not just make them foodies who work at law firms but never show any details of the cases?!
Thankfully Beyond Bar is now on and so far, that writer seems to have done some research at least!
I can see you've already dropped it so I am not going to repeat what other reviewers have already mentioned. But…
So because you don't deem the inappropriate relationship the main plot of the show makes it ok for a teacher to have an inappropriate relationship with a minor?! You calling this inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a minor 'romance' is also a bit concerning when it should be regarded as sexual misconct with a minor, abuse of position or statutory rape - take your pick.
when you say appears like an inappropriate relationship, is the guy still 17 when they get together? still at sch? it seems so from clips I've seen.... if so, what is it that just 'appears' to be inappropriate about it?! and not downright inappropriate?
yeh nope... it must be culturally acceptable for a teacher to sleep with a student in Taiwan?! That's illegal and punishable by law in Australia where I'm from so not even starting this but am quite surprised at how many ppl found a sex scene between a teacher and a student 'hot'.
I just like LJS' voice š MKY is one of my favs too. So far, my fav ep was the last aired one, it showed more of the legal issues and showed them doing something else together other than eating! It's a bit underwhelming and my expectations have gone down.
honestly I love both leads and was enjoying their little high school romance, but these new episodes, I just feel…
yes, her manic behaviour for him is annoying then I always have to remind myself of her age... I have had friends like this and I pretty much scream at them the first time then leave them to it after that 'cos it's just exhausting being around people like that
I'm someone that, in this case, if I were writing letters and never got a reply I would be done after the second…
How old are you tho? She's what maybe 14, 15? She's already seen to be reckless and highly emotional. During the whole scene, I'm yelling out ohh come on don't be an idiot, go back go back home lol
It's very weird to me that the actual plaintiff and defendants rarely have to go to court as long as they have…
civil law system is totally different to common law which is what we have in Australia... it's interesting and can be frustrating to watch... for instance, the fact that a plaintiff can sue the deceased's family... here, we can sue the Estate but the family is not personally liable. Also, I take it having an affair is illegal? I thought that was abolished already?
No conflict of interest issues raised at all during the divorce proceedings?! I was bored with these two eps and if the writer lacks credibility from the beginning then there's no point in watching it for the legal aspect. As for romance... hhmmm... let's wait and see, but I'm not as curious as I was after the second ep. I could probably wait til it ends now to binge.
