I think that was the point. I don't think she was written to invite empathy. Instead, she was written to expose gendered expectations of emotional labour. Sang Yeon withholds clarity, prioritises her own emotional pace and doesn’t over-explain or soothe others’ discomfort.
In male characters, this behaviour is frequently excused as “complex” or “brooding.” In a woman tho, it reads as cold and unsympathetic — and the drama leans into that discomfort deliberately.
