Me too. Lei Jiayin's acting is given for granted, he is always perfect in all his roles, so the real surprise…
Have been checking out what shows have you watched lately and came across here. LOL.
Thank you for all the lessons about entertainment industry and actors in Chinese movies and dramas. It does seem different kind of talents and also lucks for movies and dramas. It seems it's similar to Holywood where more A-list actors do movies but sometimes they go to start in some miniseries.
I have watched until episode 40 and I have some questions below.
1. What made everybody was so scared of ZBW? Why did Shi Quan and Lu Yan work for him? Did they not know ZBW poisoned the rest of CJX's crew? Why did master Gao Ming refer to him and would die for him? I know the narrative said that he was supposed to be scary but besides being hidden in plain sight, he didn't command any army or have any martial arts.
2. Why did ZZX (second master) lie to ZH at the beginning about the third enemy? Did he really want ZBW's support for his promotion in the beginning and pretend to promote him? It wasn't really clearly explained or I might miss something.
3. What happened to the emperor? Did ZBW poison him or was he really sick because of the Gui seal?
It seems lately there are more female centric revenge drama, hardly any male centric so this is quite a welcome change. Not that there is anything wrong with the female centric but somehow the tricks they used are different.
I'm getting Count of Monte Cristo vibes from this. Wondering about jumping in, but I've never really really followed…
Yes, this definitely reminds me of the Count of Monte Cristo. I think even later c-dramas or other country dramas revenge shows are partly based on the Count of Monte Cristo,

Also note to self: Watch Breaking Bad.

I'm all about women empowerment but sometimes we need variations :)
