LOL, you are always good with words. I only watched the first episode and a bit of the second one. I turned it on for my mom and she didn't like it so we stopped. I guess I didn't miss much. It seems a lot of people like the shows though.

JOL is definitely up there at the top. So is Nirvana in Fire although I personally haven't watched it. But a lot of people are really raving about it.
Have you watched "Mysterious Lotus Casebook"? It's also at the top of C-drama recommendation. It's the opposite of revenge and the main character changed his ID and wanted to live (or dying) peacefully instead of taking revenge. Having said that, the show actually is not super sad, it's a mix of comedy, mystery, bromance and wuxia.

Hi, sorry for the late response. I didn't get any notification email. As sihyun said, JOL is Joy of Life. The story is not complete yet. There will be a 3rd season which I believe will be the final one.
The ML indeed is a smarty pant but I think you will come to love him and a lot of other supporting characters. Although the plots are heavy, it's really funny as well. I think most of the characters in JOL are well written even for the villains as we sort of could actually relate to them. I personally enjoy JOL more than LOZH although this show is quite great as well.
