Just started, I like the plot and the ML, but why oh why this has such a poor FL both as character and as actress? And I would mostly blame the scriptwriter as it's their fault they don't let FL come out of ML's shadow.
This is one of the best c-dramas I watched. It does feature a lot of typical c-drama things (like flying while fighting...) but things which need to be done right - are done right. Crimes were brutal, I think no historical drama had such violent murders. They used a lot of modern knowledge likely not available to people in that time but they made investigations so interesting and detailed, that I was hooked all the time. Main leads were so great in supporting and admiring each other, and were in relationships for most part of the drama, and never went "stay away, I'll protect you" but always "let's do it together", it was so inspiring. All good characters had a good finale, all bad character annihilated each other. Really well done.
can someone roughly tell me by which episode ml finds out fl's identity and when they get together?
He suspects from the very beginning and he doesn't care much, so it's not something to cause trouble, don't expect anything dramatic😏. They get together after about 15 eps.
Ml can’t emote a single emotions through his acting. I was excited for this drama but had to fast forward through…
I also think he is not a strong actor, but his team picks really good roles and scripts for him, so I watched several of his dramas already. At least his acting is not cringy, he just keeps poker face most of the time and sometimes it just works. Also, when there was a part in this drama where he was super happy and smiley, he looked so much better! :)
I've been seeing a lot of propaganda for this show after pursuit of jade lmao. It didn't click for me after the…
No, this show has strong and smart females, comedy, twists, character development, politic confrontation and fantastic dialogues, some viewers consider it slow, but I enjoyed the pacing, as for drama - the mid confrontation was intense, but not overdramatic, so this is indeed a bit different piece of cake.
Finished second case, still like the drama! It's surprisingly violent for a c-drama (which is fine for me).
CGI and stunts in winter monster arc were laughable but the arc itself was fine again. Idk why some comments complain about cases being obvious, I am pretty intrigued as they don't reveal the villain immediately, and the story takes some time to unfold to see the whole picture.
Finished. Mixed feelings. It was overall ok and had a lot of good things, but ML was so so superior that they had to put him in hospital so that FL could finally shine :D I like Tan Song Yun and think her character here could be so much better if only ML would not be there to support 90% of the time. ML seemed more experienced and wise than his grandfather, honestly :D Conflicts also didn't get their proper resolution IMO, none of the characters had a good talk to explain everything. Being apart somehow resolved everything o_0
Ep31-33 were pretty horrible 😁 Main scriptwriter went on a sick leave or something 😁 Pity, as they pretty much ruined the whole buildup to the conflict, at least for me dialogues were all wrong and out of character. But I am glad I survived as later it gets better.
I should also mention quite many things which I like in this drama: healthy break-up with ex boyfriend; nearly no toxic parents and in general nice interactions with them (only one toxic detected) ; ML being ruthless in business but very ok towards FL in private even when he knew she had a boyfriend; lead couple relationship progressing super fast at some point, but it was new and refreshing and I liked it even though it was a bit of a surprise, that characters in c-drama don't act like young virgins :). I also like other couples, and I wish they would dive a bit deeper exploring the conflict of marriage vs free relationships which Li Li has with Yi Xiao, as it seems to be a bit shallow.
But why why modern dramas struggle to just let women be successful without endless troubles?..
yeah, on episode 14, and FL didn't manage to do anything remarkable in business area since she got her own company... It's ML who helps and helps and helps with everything, openly or secretly, being everywhere all the time. Probably Flourished Peony will stay the only c-drama where they managed to balance the support ML gave to FL (sigh).
I dropped after they got together, I assume they will have some part with long-distance relationships, but I just find both lead characters pretty boring, so without some entertaining factor like a toxic ex it will be probably a very slow part of the story lacking events.
