In the last scene he is crying because his mom died, it was spoiled in bts. I didn't see anything which would hint QM going to dark side, but some troubles are ahead of her for sure. I want to hope she is to become a better person instead. Someone from Qiu family should 🥴

I was looking for a strong FL, but in first episodes she is quite childish and, of course, keeps loosing to male lead in pretty everything... Also, if they dress male lead in women's clothes, I think he would look hotter than female lead :D

Try "Qing Luo" with him, he is absolutely adorable there, and in general this drama is cute.

I liked him too, I saw him before and he is very cute as a person and quite a good actor. Here I think he was the only one who managed to pull some life into acting within their dead script 😁

... it did get better and was good for about 30 episodes, then started to drag. Second part of the story lost me, I started to skip, maybe because everything was quite obvious, who is whose daughter, and which issues main leads will have, and even typical for dramas "I will push you away for your own sake" is there. I wish they had more cases unrelated to main villain, but the villain, oh, was sooo hot, I basically couldn't take my eyes of him 😁
I wouldn't say that main leads had much chemistry, but their romance story was quite believable and nicely done. I first didn't like main lead because of his domineering attitude, but he was cute in later episodes.

Maybe, thanks for encouraging description! First episode didn't get me, it had really quite a lot of scenes that were irritating, but I keep in mind that cn dramas usually take 5-7 episodes to really fall for the characters and plot.

I think writing negative comment is ok if someone doesn't really like the drama. We sometimes watch dramas, seeing other people's excitement or for a certain actor or because of high rating, but just can't get into it, and it's ok to tell about this. But when someone starts comparing... that could be a double-edged sword.

I hope for several episodes when they will be together "officially". Can't wait, bubble tea - yes!

Well, and I wanted to watch Maiden Holmes, because it was mentioned here in comments as a similar drama, but couldn't get even through episode 1 because of poor acting of ML and enormous amount of stupid romantic situations involving accidental kissing, hugging etc which leads had already in that first episode. I was irritated so much that clicked through episode and when they were lying on each other (for gods sake!) at the end of it I said MEH loudly and closed youtube window :D

7.5 for Zhu Zanjin, the cat and visuals. Minuses: rushed plot, not synced dubbing, a bit forced friendship between the leads, and ML didn't really impress me.

Nah, I still watched not enough :D I liked "Imperial Coroner", there chemistry is not so exciting, but relationships are also very equal, with mutual respect and acknowledgement of each others abilities, detective storyline is also quite intense. And now I started "Under the power", because it was mentioned here in comments quite often, and yes, it's also detective+romance, but male lead is much more domineering and always smarter than FL, and FL becomes clumsy and a bit childish around ML... but it is still a nice filler while waiting for new episodes here)

I am also glad you continued! I also noticed that in first episodes sound was as if actors spoke into the dust-bin :D I also enjoy relationships of the main couple, it's a slow burn but a very hot burn, and unlike other dramas with strong detective storyline, here I don't feel that they might be just friends, oh no, they are definitely gonna fall in a very passionate love ;)

Why, why the female lead who is introduced as smart and fast in reactions, and good at fighting, starts to scream from fear around ML, behaves as a child and is not able to protect herself when ML is there?..
Currently struggling through badly CGI-ed scenes on the ship, still hoping it gets better, as rating is quite high.

I don't think I wanna finish this drama because of spoilers of episodes 37-43, which I haven't yet watched. All the characters, about whom I more or less cared, have terrible ending (those are mostly supporting characters, I still have no idea what happens with main leads and I don't really care).
Will be looking forward to Zheng Yecheng and Liu Haikuan drama, where they will be ML and SML.
Hope, that "Mirror" is just one unfortunate mistake for all actor involved in it, and we won't see anything this poorly done in the nearest future with them.

It became a bit better towards the end, FL was less chaotic, ML seemed to act better, but I skipped a lot, because the plot was quite simple. Still don't get why this drama has rating this high.

I just thought that our Qin Xuan is like a typical FL in most dramas, where ML often lies about his real motives to protect FL. Here both ML and FL lie to him to protect him 🤣 He is also the only one who buys these lies (at least LY's), while the leads just see through each other ❤

In China they banned streaming services to charge users more for so called vipvip episodes, so there is now only one vip option to watch a bit faster than for free. But in drama official weibo I see a lot of fans whining about how promotion is done, that they get not enough trailers and bts, but, well, fans whine all the time about something :D

In general I agree, that it's a light drama, but they already did kill quite a lot of people here. I am sure they are not gonna kill main leads, but one character whom I like very much might die, which makes me sad already. Also, one thing is that QM will be ok eventually, but just the thought that while being in this Royal Academy something that bad could happen to her, makes me sick, and I am not sure that as a viewer I can accept this. But I also hope that scriptwriters will handle it well, they surprised us many times already, and many things are not what they seem to be at first.

Yeah, one of the reasons I had high hopes for this drama was because LYF seemed to be the actor who can choose good projects. I still don't understand why this drama is so bad in so many aspects (sigh)
