In all other dramas the scene between QY, LY and QX in episode 23 would happen the other way round. FL would be with SML, and ML would be miserable and confused. I think this drama invented (or if not invented, then is very good at) reverse cliche.

I haven't yet started new episodes, but I had this feeling long time ago, because somewhere it was mentioned that when LY was younger he wanted to become someone else, not a corruption investigator at all, and then he ones criticized novel writers, I can't remember the details now.

I think so too, and very sad already( I knew it's gonna be LY's turn now to lose some dear people, cruel writers 😌

QX did mention, that after his father's death LY changed a lot, became more tough, but I think it's also his job that demands him to be serious and even look dangerous, he just can't be funny and cute there, or in the royal palace. But he had some comic scenes with his assistant and then with FL since very first episodes, all his smirks and teasing promised we are gonna have a lot of fun with him when he relaxes around QY, and here we go.

Ok, so, I finished and I feel like creators wanted to "straddle both worlds". They wanted to avoid cliches but at the same time were afraid to do so, cause what if audience still wants cliches? (NOPE). That's why ML is intelligent and was supposed to be weak in martial arts, but in fact fights very well. That's why leads don't buy each others' lies, but for some reason pretend they do and have those typical conversations as if breaking up forever.
I didn't like the lead actress, she behaved as a spoiled child, was loud and rude, her gestures and mannerism looked very modern, and dubbing voice was irritating. Maybe I would like this character more if another actress played it, there were some good scenes, but overall this is not the type of a strong female lead, which I would enjoy. Her grandmother - that's a true strong female in this drama.
I wish the secret of ML's family murder was more complicated, and that plot wouldn't go so "epic" in the last part, I wish they continued dealing with some local problems. Also, the idea of having dreams about future was good, and it could create so many misunderstandings when FL would try to fix unclear events she saw in the dream, but in the middle part of the drama creators totally forgot FL should have these dreams.

I think ML showed all kind of emotions from the beginning, that's why I fell for ML here so fast, while in other dramas they can keep poker face 99% of time. It also causes FLs in other dramas to jump around cold MLs as spoiled children instead of behaving as adults, cause otherwise audience would get too bored. Here ML is not boring to watch and FL behaves normally around him.
It's just that before we saw him mostly during work or arguing with FL pretty seriously, while now they argue more for fun, and we see him mostly at home.

I feel like after Qiu family is back (can be seen in trailers) it would be not fair to continue torture them with troubles, so in remaining episodes writers are gonna torture Liang Yi's family instead 😩

None of the subplots is dragged here, events change really fast, and although I didn't expect this drama to get so dark at certain point, it changed the tone back to a more light one already. I guess after several funny episodes, we are gonna have some tragedy again, but... I like this rollercoaster)

Definitely. I like that she never pretends to be stupid around ML in order to win something, she is always honest with him and other people, and they communicate as equals. This is a first time when I really don't feel that FL is less smart than ML, although many other dramas declared leads to be equally smart, but in fact dialogues were still showing that ML was smarter and always one step ahead. Here he is of course more experienced because of his job, but she is never behind, and never just waiting for him to come and save her.

Eh? This drama has strong script and fantastic chemistry between leads, I rewatch some scenes multiple times, and as of episode 22 it continues to be good. And when sometimes I feel disappointed with a plot twist, next episode reveals it was completely something else, and it's such a great feeling to watch a drama and be constantly surprised. So, don't worry, I think the future of this drama is gonna be fine)

Yep, I watched that final part nearly in full, cause that actor was fantastic, and they had a great ending for him and for the main villain. I was impressed even though I didn't watch the whole series.

Yeah, somewhere there I started to skip a lot and just watch main leads scenes, as investigations were not interesting anymore, and closer to the end there was a huge cliche.
Actually, cn dramas now can't have more than 50 episodes, and I think it's good. Even in 30+ episodes some dramas manage to become boring 😁

Oh, I actually watched just some parts from those two because I don't like leading actresses! :D And I don't like plots with several lives, when main leads kill or hurt each other to protect or because of mistake. But at the same time in "Love and redemption" they had really cool final arc, when FL was inside a man :D

I like diversity, so I am tired of cold male leads in historical dramas :D, and this one in his awkward moments entertained me a lot. As for girls, I don't like childish ones. I rarely met weak ones, maybe in older dramas, but in recent ones all FLs are either smart or can fight, or both, which is ok for me, I like equal relationships and when main leads team up to solve their troubles.

I find him pretty :D and also, it was an interesting take to create a ML who is not good at fighting but is very smart and romantic, but creators didn't dare to make him totally unable to fight, so in fact he fights quite good. Also sometimes he plays typical cold main lead, but then falls out of this role and is cute and flirty and awkward, so I guess creators were hesitating what kind of person he should be, and at the end it's a bit messy. Yeah, chemistry could be better.

I still think that even in fiction like this a girl in ancient times could not talk to princes and even random people the way she talks in drama, she shouts and snaps a lot, and actually from the main cast she is the one to fall out of "tune" the most. I guess I don't like the actress more than I don't like the character, and probably I could buy this character if it was another actress.
