Ok I needed episode 17. I didn't know I was in the mood for it until I watched.
I remember why I like Korean and Chinese dramas now because we are masochistic. Why do I take such enjoyments in seeing the main characters regret their actions?
Their pain feels so good huh?
Lol. So yeah you guys can complain or what- not; I just enjoyed watching him read the posts.
The whole bestie advice part? Its giving me PTSDs from OFL. Thank goodness Huo sounds more humane and not so self- centred.
I’m seeing a common thread in the comments; that this drama is weird lol.
Its not weird. There are a lot more weird dramas around. Its just not a fantastic drama but watchable. I didn't comment because I like it and have been just watching. Things are simple here I don't need to think so hard.
It didn't trigger anything for me. The way it was done made it more comedy. The setting was one that was intended…
Mv interpretation? And it ties in with why he suddenly liked her. In the romance books and if we had an inner monologue right? It will be a forced kiss that was why his eyes widened. Then he push her away and she pulled him back then the director did the close up of her holding onto his shoulders. In the romance book when he did the scrabbling for the chair then clutched the chair it usually means he suddenly felt the urge to actually return the kiss. Or felt that frisson of attraction.
That was why I was laughing quite hard. It literally felt as of it was lifted off multiplel romance books kissing scene when they character feels the urge to kiss the other party.
Anyway this post has grown so long Ive lost track. I am off to catch up on my Moon in a day and It's a good day to be a dog. No time to waste This is the only night off. I remember the schedule. We are getting 2 episodes on Sunday and Monday.
It didn't trigger anything for me. The way it was done made it more comedy. The setting was one that was intended…
I just did. People were dropping the drama because of it. Have they seen the absolute mental abuse parents do for almost all Cdramas? That's worse. Its ongoing
This is so bizzare that its the nicest ending and it was cut off. It actually turned out to be one of the nicest wedding scene in any drama I've watched while the earlier 36 episodes have been torturous to watch.
I am going to be brutally blunt here not because I am defending a drama but because I am trying to explain why a plot point is plausible. The execution of the forced kiss is not acceptable in the work place anywhere in the world except in dramas.
Ok. Male boss has an employee for over 3 years he did not notice. For some reason the mysterious unseen Mingzhu has the family specs and looks to be Mrs Tang. Huo what'shisname the male gossip shoves Tang Xin in front of Tang Yu.
The proximity breeds familiarity plot part worked. But the detached boss still thinks she's an employee but is now a good employee with some admirable aptitudes.
The forced kiss made him physically aware and probably sexually attracted to her but the drama writers in both Chinese and Korean dramas all act coy like they don't know the word sex or how it occurs.
Its his first kiss too right? The screenwriter ran with this thinking for this plot.
A CEO or an aggressive male doesn't suddenly become a passive pansy just because he likes someone. If someone is aggressive in business why would he be hesitant in pursuing someone he is attracted to? Its like his cerebral brain caught up with his hormones that he is attracted to her? There is a reason why there is such a thing as personal space.
Now lets talk about reality and why my blunt talking might be offensive. I am quite an analytical person and this is not my personal ideology but my personal observations.
First off most adults have some sort of self control or should have. Otherwise people of the opposite sex will be attacking the person they were attracted to. That's assault and you can be charged. However we are all watching Cdramas here where there are a lot of questionable behaviours.
Almost anything that happened in the mainstream Kdrama or Cdramas- have occurred in my work place. Yes that might horrify some of you. My department alone has about 500 staff you see. Department. Not company/organisation.
I have seen or heard of forced kisses while intoxicated at work functions. It was dealt with at that time by his colleagues and he transferred to another location as in different company.
With such a large workforce we also also have 25% of them as new graduates and very physically attractive colleagues that I've seen others comment on. Cdramas will have their characters aggressively pursue them or give them drinks or invite them out etc.
These occurs sometimes in real life but it usually doesn't. So the forced kiss here if it makes you uncomfortable then switch dramas. There are so many uncomfortable and criminal acts being shown in Cdramas that one has to decide which is morally acceptable to you right?
In the scheme of things the forced kiss is the same as the physical violence by a parent to a child in another drama. Those were or are repeated violence. Or the lecherous boss or random whatever male the writer wants attacking the FL.
You decide what you want to watch. We should all respect that. This was one scene out of many deplorable acts that occurs in a drama and currently there are no other triggers bar episode 4. Some dramas have triggers in every episode or recurring triggers. Some people react to assault- like this kiss- but accept the groping scenes in another drama by another male. Its not exchangeable or acceptable in whatever situations. The male lead is not acceptable to you. I get that.
I just wanted to say this because people kept commenting on it. This drama has been otherwise good. Not fantastic but watcheable as a 3 week 24 episode drama. I've not much to complain about her. Its a romance drama and we are currently at the pursuing stage. It could very well go downhill but I did see 2 sets of parents talking in the ending song.
My actual triggers in dramas are the physical abuse by parents and the psychological damage to the self- esteem, adopted children's treatment in both K and Cdramas, mother in laws portrayals and the stepmother or mercenary females.
The mercenary females and men who are or excuse their sexual drives. Or the females who thinks its culturally ok to be a mistress. I grew up seeing the mistress or the 2nd wife. I have also seen friends and acquaintances marriages break up after their husband's stay in China for work. That's very triggering for me- the pursue of wealth above all else and the glorification of being rich in Cdramas.
So now you know why I am still watching. Different people have different triggers.
I am not going to get into a morals debate about my views or triggers. I did say I was posting my observations. If yours is different so be it. I was commenting in the light of episode 4. My state just settled a court case of 2 university lecturers one charged with rape that was reduced to consentual sex. Then an ongoing national court case of also another rape allegations. Its currently on trial right now. So yes sexual assault in the work place is a serious thing that this writer made trivial.
However I cannot explain how Chinese writers think these sort of things are ok. I don't know if I can chart if up to the cultural mindset in China. I have 2 male cousins who are very, very nice men who married high school graduates who watched Cdramas. Their behaviours are like Cdrama women. Horrifying and I feel sad watching my male cousins. One highly educated cousin who divorced his unacceptable 1st wife- he was an overseas grad. The current wife pursued him while he was an expat employee etc. Both have wives who behave like the nasty manipulative women in Cdramas. Literally. Its quite scary to see it actually. We are talking suicidal attempts , screaming, entitled rich wives behaviour disdaining gifts which are not seen expensive enough, expensive schools etc behaviours. These are examples.
Forced kiss in episode 4. I can accept that. Moving on....
is this good?, the last drama I saw (Hello, I'm at Your Service) that starred Wei Zhe Ming, I didn't like it...
I watched that drama and I thought it was ok. I actually didn't like the FL's way of acting. I do know the actress is very good but I didn't like the character. I also didn't like that other OCD and actress couple and they way they made my favourite mum's ahjumma hair. The whole Laoganma imitation was a turn off.
The ML is a lot more ruthless here. The ML was a lot more sappy there. They prettied everyone up here. The girls are pretty and sophisticated and the guys dress well and are successful in their career.
There was a lot of money worries in the other drama. To each their own. Its worth watching. I was watching The Furthest Distance and Only for Love and dropped both dramas 2/3 of the way and watched the last 3 episodes. The only drama out of 10 which I finished was Fake it till you make it. The other 9 had draggy points and all ended having parts which I fast forwarded. And also dropped.
I will probably finish this as its only 24 episodes and ends in less than 2 weeks so an easy watch.
I started on ep 1 got impatient and went to ep 7 and 8. Liked it so went to ep 5 and 6. Heard you guys talked about ep 4 so went there. Then I went back to ep 1 and started the drama episode by episode. I am not on ep 10 2nd time round- I watched ep 9 and 10 on fast forward then went back to ep 2.
This drama is moving along chop chop.
The copyrigh story only went on for 2 episodes. TWO. Unbelievable. Its usuall dragged on forever in other dramas. Plot points take forever.
He already got permission into her house by ep 12. Good work Mister.
Shrivelled vegetable ie old and wrihkle. Thats my take on it.Omg the translation is awful in certain scenes you…
I'd pay more attention to it. Nothing was outrageous so didn't pay that much attention. I noticed typos in the subs, missing honorifics so the joke was lost so jokes were lost, mundane lines.
I don't normally pay that much attention to it as this is a modern drama but its not politics or anything.
The thing is, I am watching it as a romcom and not a drama with any social messages. This show has entertained…
Its not unusual as such but more that the subtitles translator is just doing a job but not thinking. Any clever wit is lost. The problem is that I was watching about 3 dramas the last week and can be sure if it came from episode 1. There are many ways to translate the same thing. You can choose the most common or actuallly translate the intention. That's what I notice anyway so have actuslly repeated some scenes so the context is right. And I've ignored the subs for that conversation.
Disclaimer- I will not hope for a certain trajectory for ep 11-24. No commitments on what the writer is capable of.
Let me talk about the chemistry. Geez. The cast has chemistry. I had forgotten how it elevates a drama. First off they can act right? You know in some dramas the actors can't act? DingDing is insanely attractive but her mouth and her facial expression is not very mobile. Notice her nasolabile folds- these move when you're expressive. Its usually affected when you tighten muscles etc with surgical work done. Its nothing to do with age. Or youth.
I actually like DingDing the character by the way. Little Ms Rich decked out in branded wear is very sweet.
However, everyone else is fine. So the lines that are coming out from the actors just make me believe them. Lol. Director Lu- strike me dead at the scene reading.
Then the intermittent drunk then sober gazes in ONE scene from the ML? All I could do us use his eyes as a gaze when he switches expressions.
Ok. I am satisfied with this drama so far. I have 3 dramas that I have suffered because the acting was either bad or there was no chemistry. I went past ep 10 for one. I am trying to MAKE myself watch the other beyond ep 10 for one and ep 5 for the other. Purely because I actually like the plot for the other 2.
You have no idea how thankful I am there is chemistry. I don't think this drama is perfect but I'm in the mood for romance and you have no idea how hard is it to find a romance drama. The others had idiocy, reincarnation, social taboo, animal transformation, murder, multiple murders, domestic abuse etc.
It is so so hard to find a romance drama. Plain and simple. Boy likes girl. Or girl likes boy. I don't care who first. Somebody pursue the other. End of story. And a wedding.
Which FL are you talking about that you think is so slim the one in here or the one in Unforgettable Love?
Hah. I checked. She's 5 5" that means she's tall for a Chinese and 41kg which translates to either heaviser or lighter than 91lb. So I was right. I was thinking she was closer to 40kg. One can be slim when young but anyway- she will be easier for the Princess carry.
Which FL are you talking about that you think is so slim the one in here or the one in Unforgettable Love?
Here.
The one in UL is just slim.
The FL for this drama looks like she is 45kg or under 95lbs based on her collarbones, arms and legs. She has been wearing some clothing which showed her bare midriff. Both the front and side views. Its been a long while since I've seen someone so small. Vs petite. The next slimmest actress I've seen was the 2nd FL in The furthest distance but even she was just slim.
I remember why I like Korean and Chinese dramas now because we are masochistic. Why do I take such enjoyments in seeing the main characters regret their actions?
Their pain feels so good huh?

You guys are right. Its very nice and probably the most sane episode of them all. Why was it cut off?
