I agree, I think she does better in her historical dramas, or rather xianxia type. I liked her in The Flame's Daughter and Three Lives Three Worlds (both TMOPB and TPB), she was ok in The Long Ballad, but I haven't really liked a lot of her recent works.

you do better than me, I can't make it past episode 2 and it has an amazing cast, besides Xu Kai, there's Leon Lai, who is one of my all time favorite actors (although he hasn't been in much lately) among a few others.

It is very good. It is a Republican Era drama, it is actually the only Republican Era drama I have ever watched and liked. I can't really get into those dramas that much. But the chemistry Xu Kai and Bai Lu have has always been amazing for me. I really would love to see them in something else, but unfortunately I don't think that will ever happen.

I skip all scenes of Yi Chen and WQZ, their scenes to me are so boring. WQZ's character was boring to begin with and then putting her with Yi Chen, just added to that. Which sucks because, I love the actor playing Yi Chen, he was the 3rd prince in LLTG and he was in Falling into Your Smile with Xu Kai.

He didn't break up with her on her birthday, they broke up in episode 8, I think. He just felt they didn't have the same goals anymore, she was concentrating on her startup and he was sort of being ignored. Basically, he wasn't wanting to support her anymore at least that is my takeaway. The birthday episode is where she found out one of her best friends was dating her now ex.

I agree. My favorite of all of Xu Kai's dramas is Arsenal Military Academy. I first saw him in The Legends, but I really started to notice him in AMA. So many of his dramas have been hit or miss for me. I was worried about his chemistry with Seven Tan here, cause to me it was an unusual pairing, but I have been proven so wrong, they are so great together, probably one of my favorite pairings of his, besides him with Bai Lu (which will always be my favorite).

That was my first thought. How the hell did she find out what hotel he was staying at, because he didn't even decide that until he found out what hotel Ji Xing was staying at and then for ZD to get the room number as well!?! creepy!!!!

I actually started early yesterday and caught up late tonight, so closer to almost two days, but there was a bit of fast forwarding going on as well.

She is so crazy stalkerish, it's creepy.

I really wanted to wait til this was finished to binge, but couldn't help myself. I started yesterday and just got caught up to ep. 21. I am really enjoying this, although there are a few scenes that I have FF through.

I completely agree with your last paragraph. They are actually boring to watch and I have been skipping their scenes. It is what it is and I really don't care, and I have seen this same trope to many times.

I personally think they should have ended the drama after their wedding. IMO, the whole going off to fight in the war was not needed. They had pretty much wrapped everything up before that or all that needed to be wrapped up was done.

Finished yesterday, after binging for the last few days all episodes, first run through. I really enjoyed this drama. I think I may have officially found my preference in C Dramas, historical political costume dramas (with slight romance or more). Most of the dramas I have liked have been these kinds of dramas. I love all the backstabbing, revengey, twisty plotty stuff.

Overall this drama was done really well. The chemistry, the costumes, the choreography, the story was one of the best I have seen honestly since LLTG. I actually cried in this drama and I don't cry for dramas, this was only the third time that any actor/actress has made me cry. I agree with a lot of what others have been saying about the ending. (**spoiler in reply**) Other than the ending, it was a great drama. I love when the acting is so good you hate the villain characters, that's when you know they do their job well.

I have tried watching Viki's dramas with comments on, but they get to distracting and since I have to read subs at the same time, it is to hard to watch. If there is a particular scene I might turn the comments on, but most of the time they are off for me.

The next few I am looking forward to is Zhao Lu Si's The Pearl Girl, Bail Lu's Moonlight Mystique, and possibly Dylan Wang's Guardians of the Dafeng. I don't know if any of these will come close to topping this one, but I think The Pearl Girl might.

I agree. I would have been fine if they had of ended the drama after their wedding. I don't know why we needed to see them go off to fight. IMO, that was unnecessary.

I was thinking these thoughts as well. WRTW was originally a very female centric story, but when Yang Yang joined the cast they changed it to be a more male centric story. ZLS is wonderful as Bai Fengxi, but they did not give her enough in WRTW, imo. Although, I still really enjoyed the drama.

My favorite is The Sword and the Brocade followed by Under the Power. I actually liked The Fox's Summer, I just didn't really like her ML in it. I know everyone loves Go Ahead and I have tried several several times to watch it and I just can't get into it myself. I don't know why. I really am enjoying ABAY. I was skeptical about her chemistry with Xu Kai, but it is actually really working here and most of his dramas are hit or miss with me.

Very well said and I agree. My favorite are the looks the ML gives the FL after they banter and she starts to walk away. WXY's little smirky looks are everything.
