So far this drama story telling is great. I didn’t skip yet lol ML is great. I am not new to FL, like her in…
I first watched him in Maiden Holmes, which wasn't bad. I have also watched Star Crossed, but I think what really kind of gave him the launch and people starting to take notice was LBFAD, then onto MJTY. All the roles I have seen him in, this is my favorite.
Do Xue Ning and Xie Wei become lovers or rivals …. They seemed to be hating ea other… i mean, the girl is…
The end goal is them as a couple. Right now, she feels he will kill her at any moment because she knows his secrets (secret being his dementia state). But he secretly has feelings for her (we as audience have pretty much deduced that from some of his comments and looks). He is trying to be aloof and "mean" to her because of Yan Lin and he doesn't want her to use YL by leading him on.
I wanted to watch MJTY, but after hearing it did ZLH so dirty, I’m like I’ll wait for SOKP lol. And for sure,…
It is still a great drama. It is my favorite that Esther Yu has ever done and I am not usually a fan of hers, matter of fact I couldn't get through LBFAD because of her and I really tried. But I enjoyed watching her in MJTY and ZLH was good. The story of MJTY was still really good and the storytelling was intriguing (ending not so much, I personally hate OE or ambiguous endings.
I just think when you are advertising a drama with 2 pretty much high traffic stars (granted ZLH is still on the rise), then I would expect the drama to be focused around them, but for me it was focused more on the 2nd ML and 2nd FL . One of the things I hated about Wrong Carriage, Right Groom, well the story in that one sucked, but they focused way to much on supporting cast vs the cast they were advertising the drama for.
I think I am in the minority here. I am just not feeling the chemistry between JXN and ZZ (and I felt a bit uncomfortable watching the previews of her cozying up to him, it didn't feel right) Maybe it is because I am already set on her being with XW, but I didn't really get it with YL either. To me YL is a playful friend, that you always have around, never to consider to have feelings for. ZZ is like that older brother type, very serious, and secretly taking care of you. Whereas XW, for me personally, it is like they compliment each other. She feels free to express her views and they communicate really well, and I can feel the tension when they are together.
I was thinking it referred to the role of scapegoat, but if you think of how goats can get into everything (and…
after @Lyra explained what they meant by "acting the goat" , I was thinking the same thing about how goats act and they are being silly and foolish. I can understand it a bit more. It was just so weird to see that translated that way in a costume drama instead of just saying "being silly or stubborn or foolish".
Okay so the Xue family hate the Yan family because the Yan family has control over the military? So the Xue wants…
Translation is right. The Empress Dowager is the mother of the current Emperor and the Princess and the Prince (Yan Lin's friend) and I forget her relationship to the Xue family, but she may be the sister to the Xue guy.
I know Xie Wei's mother is Old Yan's sister and his father is Old Xue. He has both Xue and Yan blood, but is partial to the Yan side mainly because of the events that happened 20 yrs ago. If Old Xue's daughter (the b*tch that sent Ning up) were to marry the Prince she would technically be marrying her cousin (which is not uncommon). Old Xue's daughter is Xie Wei's half sister.
So far that is all I have got out of all of it, lol. There is a lot of connection between the Xues and Yans.
The translated subs say " ...by acting the goat, right?" I have not heard this particular saying in a costume drama before. Was it translated wrong and if not, what does she mean by acting the goat?
Yes, I can't stand the mom. Such a awful mother. How to expect a child to feel when every word you said to her…
Especially when they are your biological child, I just don't get that. How can love and show respect and want to do everything for someone else's kid first and not your own?
I almost cried during that scene. I really hope the uncle survives and has a happy ending this time around.
Such an underrated drama. I really enjoyed it, except for the ending. It is hard for me to rewatch dramas, even though I thoroughly enjoyed them, when the ending sucks, like Song of Glory and Rise of the Phoenixes.
I'm screwed. I just started episode 1 and only am 12 minutes in and already want her to end up with Yan Lin 💀…
you'll change your tune pretty quickly, I think he is to forward and clingly ( imo ). I love her push/pull relationship with Xie Wei. A lot of people want her with ZZ, but I am just not feeling it myself.
