I agree, I actually couldn't get hooked by the OG TW version so I only watched 4 or 5 episodes and dropped it,…
I find your comment really interesting. After the first two episodes I commented that the new version was competetent but it didn’t have the lightning in the bottle of the original. But the deeper I go into the Korean remake, the more positive my opinion. In fact, I’m really caught up in it even though, despite minor differences, I know the basic story. Viewing the original was magic for me, but I have to wonder if A Time Called You might not cast the same spell on me had I not already experienced the story with virgin eyes. I can guarantee that a first time viewer will be blown away by the original Taiwanese version. And if I’m really honest with myself, those first time viewers closing this version might very well feel the same way It’s really pretty damn spellbinding. So this OG gives a Time Called You some mad props
Hey, if you're thinking about giving this show a shot, I'd say go for it – it won't let you down. Sure, it's…
I’ll add that I love, love the original, and it took me some time to get used to the remake, but now that im a little more than half way through this new version I believe this one’s really well done too … the deeper I get into this version the better it gets The basic plot is the same but there are definitely some differences. But this one is a worthy remake. Im anxious to see how they’ll handle the ending.
As hateful as the fans of the Taiwanese original are being to the Korean version, at least their reasons are related…
I’m a huge fan of the original. It was one of the greatest shows I have ever seen. But I think Korean remake is solid. Creative team behind it is making different choices. For example, if I recall, there’s almost 2 episodes dedicated to the grief, the main lead experiences losing her boyfriend. The Korean version certainly touches on that but it gets to the relationship between the three friends and the love triangle much earlier on. And makes that the focus of the first part of the series. Writers in the Korean version try to simplify things a little bit more. We don’t get into doppelgängers as is discussed in the original. Of course, I’m gonna be partial to the first one because it’s the first time exposed to all the twists. I imagine for those not familiar with the original. The twist in the Korean version are equally good. I’m just glad that the original story is so well received that it was worth producing again in another language. And thank God, not on American network TV, where it would’ve been ruined. Talk about dumping stuff down to the lowest common denominator.
I watched the Korean remake first and couldn't follow the storyline, only found out after that it was a remake…
The first episode with the overacting in the office is really the only thing I can complain about in the original. Once the story focuses on the main leads, starting in episode two it goes on to be the greatest drama that I’ve ever watched on any platform in any language, and in any country. You are in for a treat. Also, shortly after the finale, the producers put an Easter egg on YouTube. I don’t want to give too much away. It’s like an extension of the ending. It’s a nice touch and gives a series a little bit of closure.
Yup. I can’t complain about this version. It’s well done. We have to remind ourselves that the very first…
I see you are a fellow someday or one day geek like me. I’ll confess I went into the YouTube video that features the cast of the original, watching the finale episode together and singing the Main soundtrack song. I wrote in the comments that I was sorry I was cheating on them by watching the Korean version but that no matter what the story they told was one of the best things I’ve ever seen on TV.
I’m an OG and I think a Time Called You is well done.
I’ll be honest I went in with unrealistic expectations. When you already know all the twist there’s no way you’re gonna like the new version as much as the original. But this version for those who don’t know the story I think it’s really pretty well done. If I were to make one direct comparison where I think the original goes, do a better job that’s with the original soundtrack music but that’s a subjective taste thing and everyone’s gonna be different. If you haven’t yet, finish the drama, I can assure you you were in for quite a treat. The plot is great.
Have you watched the original? I feel that one was WAY better with the time travel and the thrilling/murder/mistery…
Yeah. Greg Hahn was it. Something like that. By the way, if you haven’t seen the movie, it’s a real treat for those of us who are big fans of the TV show I’m not sure I could recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen the TV show All I can say is it’s a crazy add-on story not a retelling in movie form
I just finished it!!!!I am a HUGE FAN of the original and in my opinion you can enjoy this remake if you haven’t…
Yup. I can’t complain about this version. It’s well done. We have to remind ourselves that the very first episode of some day or one day or was really over acted by the supporting cast in the office. Episode two righted the ship when leads fully took over and it went on to become one of the best series I’ve ever watched. This version didn’t have those kind of jitters though obviously it’s hard for me to find lightning in the bottle the second time. But I’m still enjoying it.

Someday or Someway. If given the choice I’d watch the original for my first experience. But that doesn’t diminish the Korean one, which I think is competent. The one glaring difference for me is the music. So much better in the original
I loved Dark. And it’s a great comparison though the stories are very different. This would be Dark Light. But the idea of characters more advanced on the timeline letting things play out (or not) is a common theme between the stories. I’m only in episode five of the Korean version but I watched the Taiwanese version twice. And Dark 3 times.
Not gonna to lie... Even though I haven't watched the Taiwanese version, this drama felt like a dud during the…
The Taiwanese version almost lost me at episode 1, It was badly over acted by those playing characters in the 2019 office, but then the leads took over and the rest of the story became about the best TV I’ve ever seen. I’m glad you are enjoying Time Called You. I’m at episode 5 and so far true to the plot of the original. That means if you are in for a treat the rest of the way. I’m enjoying it but it will be hard to recapture the magic of the Taiwanese version. Why I would have expected anything different is on me

If I had to do it over again and to pick one to watch for the first time, it would be “someday or one day”. That’s not to say A Time Called You” is bad. The original was just pure magic
Competently done, but not lightening in a bottle like the original from Taiwan, which I maintain is the best TV series I’ve ever watched. Especially noticeable is the strength of the soundtrack music in the original compared to the music in a Time Called you. I’m only five eps in but those who only have the Korean drama as context should find the story engaging. In this version the writers avoid the ambiguity and kind of spell things out more. But it’s well done and hasn’t changed the story line at all (five eps in)
Trying to put my finger on why I like this, but I do. I mean there is nothing original about the story and it’s pretty clear this will be an Ai Long Nai plot where not much happens. Other than it’s sure to be a constant shill for 7-11. But maybe it’s because the actors aren’t just pretty to look at. They’ve got some talent. They can actually act. Where I should be cringing I’m not. I mean I basically hate watched Dinosaur Love and I can’t even get up the energy to hate watch My Universe, so it’s not like I’m being charitable judgement on IQIY shows. Seriously. I should hate Venus the Sky. But I don’t. Actually like it.
Don’t get me wrong it ain’t no masterpiece. it’s filled with plenty of eye rolling bad sequences , and it’s about 35 minutes longer than it needs to be. And it could quite easily become check out 2. Lapsing into a coma and accepting death was preferable to watching late episodes in that snore fest. And if they don’t tighten things up, we may be headed there
Minor spoiler
But there are flashes of hope Take the flashback scene where the two main leads kiss and one immediately fríend zoned the experience. That sequence was actually really well done. Honestly written and the beats in the scene felt honest. There’s not enough of those moments.
Even if this turns into Tim Tem Jai or whatever that horrible series was called, I’m gonna give venus a chance..
The show’s writer has potential. The dialogue is really well written but the plot is a little overstuffed. And some of the young actors are really sharp. The best feature is the realism in the the non melodramatic parts of the show. And the licking a postage stamp type kiss is a pet peeve , especially when the other aspects of the performance are so good. The secondary couple should give lessons. There’s a lot of talent and a lot of potential behind this show. We will definitely see the people involved in this show again, even if the show itself could use a second draft in my opinion
Now it’s time for me to go get a life.
