I aw a comment a few months ago. It read "Wow. Just Wow." It's why I put this on this series on my watch list. Now that I've been through all 12 episodes, I don't think I can improve upon that review. I can endorse it as on the money accurate.
I’ll add that I love, love the original, and it took me some time to get used to the remake, but now that im…
Your comparison pretty much says it all. Let’s leave it there. I think OG Taiwan and OG Korea just showed it’s simple to step in the shoes of the other, and enjoy the view from a slightly different path. I may leave you with a final recommendation if you are still interested and starved for time travel there’s a C drama called reset which is about as good as any TV series I’ve ever seen in any language it’s 15 episodes it should leave your jaw dropped.
This was a very grown up BL and I enjoyed it very much. It was told in a slice of life style, free of cowbells and slidewhistles. It had an indie film vibe and the creative approach reminded me of The Eight Sense. I really appreciate grown up BLs. This one had particularly strong acting and writing …not so much plot oriented writing , more like writing that reflects how people actually talk to each other. Three plot lines in a half hour show format might’ve been a little much. But once you get through the confusion at first, their storylines are easy enough to follow.
If I had one pet peeve, maybe more of a question… is why kiss scenes are so artificial with the main lead couple. whereas the other couples in the let it rip so to speak. I’ve noticed that some actors involved in boy bands seem to hold back Not all (see the kid from Dongkiz for example) I’m wondering if certain artist management companies feel like it’s a danger to the career of the artist for some reason. I noticed there is a complete lack of kissing on shoulder to cry on, for example
I read recently that DONGKIZ’s Jaechan has revealed that his label had initially tried to stop him from starring in Semantic Error, a boy’s love (BL) K-drama.
Having spent a career dealing with band management and booking agents I can vouch for that being an issue here in the states. They advise against any gay acting roles, especially now that one political party is decided to turn the clock back and vilify gay people
Anyway, here I am making it a major issue when I’m trying to say that the shower was really good. Sorry for the tangent. But it’s important.
I was happy with the ending and I think you will be too. At 8.2 this show is underrated. I’m a huge fan of the original and it earned its 9.0 rating. This version deserves higher marks. It’s a great retelling of the Taiwanese story.
I watched this and really enjoyed this. Perhaps I was able to enjoy this because I haven't watched the Taiwanese…
The two are very close. Very Minor spoilers ahead . Very minor.
There’s more build up of the grief suffered at the beginning in the original. Of course they have more episodes to tell the story. And the end is a little different. In fact, a five minute alternate ending was made available on YouTube on the shows channel You might call it an ending extension But it doesn’t really fit with the ending of the K drama But I’d say the remake is pretty darn faithful. And well done. I am OG but I have mad respect for the Korean adaptation Let some time go by and watch the original. It definitely hits differently than the remake. You’ll really enjoy the OST. Birthdays are bigger part of the plot in the original But because you watched the Korean version first and you may actually come away thinking it’s the better version. I think the first impression is the last in line for this particular plot.
How are they celebrating Christmas if Kwin Minju was supposed to die on Oct 13th? As a OG drama watcher, this…
I agree with you. Someday or one day is the best TV series I’ve ever watched. This remake nearly does the impossible and honors the original with how well done it is, I could not pick a few things, but why bother. There’s no prior frame of reference for those who really enjoy the Korean version.
As on OG “Someday or Some Way” fan, I’ve finished “A Time Called You” and don’t think they could have done a better job retelling the original story. I’m so impressed with the Korean version. The ending is different and for me very satisfying. 9.5 stars. The original Taiwanese still has a 10.0 place in my heart, but if I were being honest, I might feel that way about the Korean version had I watched it first. It’s really well done. You can tell production team, actors and writers worked hard to honor the original.
I’m an OG and I think a Time Called You is well done.
Just so you know I’m eleven episodes in and I’m absolutely blown away by the Korean version. It’s excellent and so well done. And as you said different in so many small little ways I’m so glad I got past my fist couple eps of OG snobbery and stuck with this. It’s one on the best kdramas on Netflix
The Taiwanese version almost lost me at episode 1, It was badly over acted by those playing characters in the…
Btw. I’m now at 11 episodes into the Korean version, it’s so good. I mean. Im blown away by how good it is. They really delivered a truly top tier drama.

Just starting 11. It’s been a few years but the way this is ending feels like maybe a different direction than the original. Not in a bad way. Your advice to fans of the original is good advice. This definitely feels like it’s own thing. I’ll let you know
you can watch Erased live action Japanese drama Boku dake ga inai machi it's also very good I watched it and Reset…
I am so excited by your news about Reset getting a sequel. It’s been many months, but that shows still stays with me. Not only an incredibly good story, considering how played out the groundhog day Trope is. (Well not in Asia …they do it well) but the acting right down to every last passenger on the bus and cop in the station was tour de force
I’m also thrilled at how good the Korean version of someday or someway is. I didn’t think anything could touch the original. But damn they did a good job with this one.

I’m now 10 episodes in I believe this MDL rating is way too low. I am OG but this version is really wowing me. Imagine how difficult it would be knowing how well thought of the original was to take this on as an actor writer or Director. I think they have pulled off the impossible. I am as twisted into knots this time through as I was the first time. Nothing can, or will replace the original in my heart. But I can’t honestly say I wouldn’t feel the same if I watched this version first.
I’m now ten episodes into the Korean version of “Someday or Someway”. Earlier I was coldly respectful that A Time Called You was a serviceable version of the original. Well, nothing will replace Taiwanese version in my heart, but I now believe this one is horribly underrated and deserves a much higher MDL score that the 8.1 it currently has. This is really well done and anyone watching this story for the first time , I no longer think you’re robbing yourself of the magic that was delivered by the original. Don’t misunderstand, the original was and is for me the greatest TV series I’ve ever watched , but I have mad respect for this version. They’ve really wowed me. The ending is still to come. Fingers crossed they mail it
I love the change in the backstory story about the main male lead’s gay doppelgänger. In the origanal he died as the result of being hate crimed. …it’s been a few years but I think it was suicide? This time he died in love or at least like. Nice touch.
