The planning already happened in NYZ's mind. We were given a brief during his xiangqi ted talk with LTG. So speeding up to see how his plan came into fruition wasn't bad. Check out parts where it slowed down a bit. That's exactly where they want our attention. RRY's dance, RRY's ambush, RRY's confrontation at the empress' tomb, Emperor An and the Crimson Guards' chief - this is where they want to show the effects, your enemy's reaction is never exactly as planned.

It depends on what the writer/director wants to show the audience. Editing is a storytelling device.
If you want to show how good a strategist a character is, you focus on the meticulous plotting and getting every one of the pieces of the chessboard in place. If you want to show how well you are with actions, that's where you spend extra time on.
China now has a 40-episode limit per show. That's why suddenly you get costume dramas with Part 1 and 2. I believe by the time they were filming this, they knew of the rule already, so I'm pretty sure writing itself was tight. But sometimes during filming you'll change this and that, add a line or two, and in post production you see things that are too good to not show. So a good team can think of speeding up some parts in the middle, while others will speed up the ending.

Editor: "let's just skip to the good parts"
Director/Writer: "but there was lots of planning and other things going on"
Editor: "let's get through all that really fast. I got this."

TBH for us to get all of that in a short period of time was good editing

I missed the subtitle tbh had to repeat it to read, then repeat again to re-enjoy her dancing

YY part was short but she really was so royal the entire time and knew how to handle her unhinged brother. Although she might have crumbled (I wouldn't have been disappointed if she did) when her brother threatened to expose her, good thing NYZ showed up.
Give YY her own country to rule!

I can definitely see how YSS could melt CY's heart. Just a little bit of that sweet talk from LTG had her blushing, what more from the flirt king.

I didn't mind it. As long as we don't get too much of this rushing through the story progress, it's okay. I really don't care much of the First Prince that if it took us a full episode or two fleshing every detail out to kill him, I'd be a little miffed.

hahaha like how he was talking to nyz well but when rry appeared it's like nyz faded into the background for him

2/3 through the drama - build up of characters and team camaraderie, strong romance of ML-FL, growth for the fake prince, by the end delegation is finally in enemy territory

Now to accomplish their mission (save the Wu emperor and FL's revenge), the will use politics to get the upper hand. So An's internal politics will be messed up as part of their strategies. Can't say for certain how heavy it will go but it doesn't seem like it will be that much since it's not the main focus.

They're probably just salty and wishes their favorite male actors bagged a well-made project that performs as good as AJTL. What they don't want to admit is that LYN's performance as NYZ is one of the reasons this is performing well.

I guess it looks and feels like it's straight out of a children's picture story book which given how light this is compared to other xianxia is just right
