I honestly don’t think TRS is the best for beginners cos there’s a lot of historical context that the show…
i think so too. while i was watching trs i said to myself "im glad i already watched dong yi and the throne. im glad i already know how joseon works." bc most of trs is already on the intricate side.
Is the ending universally sad or up to interpretation? Please no spoilers, I’m only on episode 4.
there is a set interpretation to the ending, but u may or may not be able to get it at first because the ending isn't straightforward (and there are details u may not be able to notice unless u read ending explanations). although the ending is fixed, it is expressed in a vague way so u may be able to interpret it in another way if that's how you want it to be HAHAHHAHA as for if it is sad, that's up to you. even tho as i said the ending interpretation is fixed, it can be sad, bittersweet or happy for you. for me it's bittersweet, for junho and some it's a happy ending, for others it's sad. there's a lot that happened in the last episode so it's quite complicated to explain HAHAHHAHA
is there anyone here whom it's their first time to watch a sageuk?? my friend wants to watch it bc i keep tweeting about it but they don't like sageuks HAHAHHAHA i personally don't think trs is the best introduction to sageuks bc the system, era and power disparity is already displayed as complex here that i don't know if she'll be able to understand the point of the story well. but i wanna know what you think
I agree with some comments below. I like the beginning of this show a lot, but when it started to became famous,…
well, the slogan of the drama is "The king loved the court lady, but did the court lady loved the king?" HAHAHAHAHA so i guess you atleast got the point of it. and for the "one sided romance", my answer is the same as other replies.
i think the word "never" is an exaggeration. like she said, there were happy times and sad times. surely there…
i agree. i also think that there might be more happy scenes at the last eps yet they had a hard time fitting it. im hoping there might be scenes with crown prince munhyo that's why im buying the director's cut blu-ray HAHAHAHAHHA
Sorry, but I don’t believe what they felt for each other was really love.
in my opinion, it was love. but it's not the kind of love we all want especially in this era, and it is rarely observed nowadays because obviously things are a lot different than how it was before. i think it was a realistic portrayal of a king and court lady's love for each other. the power disparity and differences in priorities were evident.
now this has been very tempting to watch, i shouldve watched it while it was ongoinganyways is there some draggy…
there are a few draggy parts, but personally i still get hyped up HAHAHAHAHHA maybe it's because im already used to slowpaced sageuks. eitherway, it's all worth it in the end. however, u may wanna rethink watching it if you hate palace politics bc most of the mid part is about that
I wonder which scenes were written in after the extension was announced… because I honestly can’t tell LOL
my guess is that they didn't add anything, but 16 eps were really not enough to fit in everything 😭 even now that it's 17 episodes, there were scenes that couldn't be aired
I was rewatching the red sleeve ep 2 and was fascinated to see lots of foreshadowing or hints to what will happen in the second half of the story (in an ironic way).
1. When Kyunghee asked Deokim why she let Bok Yeon and Younghee join them in transcribing even though they're not helpful, Deokim answered "I do not mind if it is minor. I want to make choices". She was always someone who wanted to make choices even if it's only trivial. But in the end, the only choice she was able to make was to keep her feelings from Yisan.
2. When Deokim was transcribing at the library and overheard Yisan's lecture, he was asked "Have you ever wanted to be a commoner instead of being the Crown Prince?". He firmly replied, "Never". At first, his explanation to this answer was something Deokim admired, but this also hinted to what happened in the last episodes which is when Deokim asked Yisan if he ever imagined what if the two of them were commoners. Yisan answered he likes being king, and that Deokim suited being a court lady best. This ultimately led to Deokim saying these painful words, "If you see me in the next life, please just pass by me as if you don't know me". She knows that she'll never be completely happy with the life she'll live with him if their status remains.
3. Yisan and Deokim's first encounter in the library when she didn't know who he was yet. Deokim: How dare you try to bribe the crown prince's person? Yisan: You are the crown prince's person? Of course how could we forget Yisan's line in the later episodes, "Were you even my person?/Were you even mine?"
idk if u guys saw this yet, but the afterlife scene had a few details different from the scene in ep 16 (other than ofc after the door part) !! the flowers and yisan's facial expressions were different.
