Merfolk themed stories and fairytales are my favorite. I am so glad we're seeing more variety of stories in the xianxia. All the god and immortals themed xianxia dramas , where everyone wears white and goes through that thunder strike test, were starting to blend together for me. I am so pumped now for this one!

Yes, I've heard great things about The Blue Whisper novel too. I hope that adaptation turns out to be good too. It has my favorite actress as one of the supporting roles in it, so I'm really hyped for it. I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Yes, there are so many underrated gems like Ancient Detective, A River Runs Through It, Dear Diary, Remembrance of Things Past, Stealth Walker,etc... These dramas literally received zero promotion but are absolute gems. Chinese dramaland is purely a money driven industry. Hence, quality of the script and acting is not given priority most times, money making schemes take the front seat. The result is that there are tons of bad to mediocre cdramas and only a few good ones which prove to be the exceptions to the rule. I have completed only a handful of chinese dramas, I end up dropping most of the ones I come across.

Her styling is impeccable... This is probably the best Reba has looked in a period costume.

Yes definitely, her character description in the novel is that she has the most loyalty towards the FL and they're basically stuck at hips. No one cares for or is more loyal to the FL than Luo Jin Sang, HYX's character.

Haha you replied while I was editing my comment. Some great novels actually had such disappointing adaptations too, like A Girl Like Me. *sigh* you were right, sometimes it's frustrating to be a cdrama fan.

True, I mostly only watch historical dramas and I end up dropping most of the chinese historical dramas I've started. The only historical drama I finished this year was The Long Ballad and that seems like ages ago lol. And the whole drama based around a star thing is so true and so unfortunate. Many great dramas with lesser known actors don't even get proper promotion and are missed under the radar even though they turn out to be really good, both plot and acting wise. Whereas, many dramas with popular traffic actors, with mediocre script and mediocre acting get so much promotion and views that they become the top dramas on that platform. Most recent example I can think of is A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College. Another drama I dropped after 2 episodes.

Can you tell me which episodes have fight scenes in it?

ZLS has three dramas out this yearsl and 3 more high profile dramas in the pipeline. I think her dramas next year would be more interesting because everything she has put put this year, except TLB, has been mediocre at best. I hope this is not the final cast for this drama because I don't know if this is the perfect cast for the characters in the novel.

So I read the synopsis of this novel and I think Hu Yi Xuan would've been perfect for this role....sigh...

Right, and her acting is such that she looks great in every frame, even in cases where she should not look her 100% best (like her father's funeral or when she's kidnapped) there's not even one hair out of place and her makeup is always flawless, even when she is in a life or death situation. Not believable at all.

You're right, they will definitely make complete use of her great acting skills. I read some parts of the novel and she even has a brush with death, so I guess her storyline is also filled with dramatic tension, like the leads. Can't wait to see it

True, there is no hooking quality to her acting, like nothing pulls me in or gets me interested in her character. I've been noticing this since Legend of Yunxi, I at least watched that one for around 30 or so episodes before dropping it. All her dramas since then, I have dropped after the first couple of episodes. I can't get invested in her character nor her chemistry with the ML.

Yes, same. I trust her choices in terms of the scripts she has picked recently. Hopefully, we'll get to see more of her soon

Yes, her posture and mannerisms are not that of a princess. She is still acting like her character in legend of yunxi, just with more headgears, better clothes and redder lips.

Ju Jing Yi's acting leaves much to be desired. I gave this one a peak because I like JZ in the ultimate note. But I don't think I can handle JJY's bland acting for 40 episodes.

I will watch the blue whisper only for HYX. She doesn't have any other projects lined up for 2022 so this will be the only drama to watch her in.
