They watched Weak Hero and said "Ok, but what if we make a k-drama with a similar plot, but in this one teachers actually care about students beating each other up all the time".
I love the idea of this show, the description sounds amazing: a noir thriller about flawed morally grey characters, it even has a sapphic scene with Nana, and yet watching it is soooooo boring, not even the queerbait could convince me to finish it. I don't even know what's wrong with that show, its just such a chore to watch, I do not recommend it...
It's been a long time since I haven't been hooked to a drama like this I obviously love PMY dramas but the two…
Dear X., is also a dark story about a complicated woman, has some obsessive romance in it, and if you haven't seen The Art of Sarah yet please watch it too, it doesnt have romance, but it is about fashion instead of art, its also a dark aesthetic thriller about a woman.
He has some hair extensions in and it's make up - he is playing a creep, he is supposed to be uncanny...
I don't have any proof, I just think the hairline looks like there are a couple of rows of extensions (male idols in Korea wear them a lot, they look like short tape in extensions), just like a row of hair added in between real hair to make it look fuller. If you look in detail at his hair there is something unnatural looking about where his middle part is and how the bangs look, it's very wiggy. There's actually a lot of wigs and hair extensions in k-dramas, some are very obvious and cheap, some look really good. I can also see that half the female leads have extra powder on the scalp, makes the hair look thicker if the scalp is not visible.
Is the ending actually open ended, like they don't resolve the plot, or is it one of those netflix/disney ending…
I think it is purely a "leaving room for a sequel in case the show does well" cliffhanger, the story is neatly tied up up until them. That ending was unnecessary, you can just skip the last 2 minutes..
In the first episode Ji Uk says that he is doing a secret thing that nobody knows about, I kinda assumed that him taking care of the neighborhood and distributing wanted poster would be followed by a reveal about how he is looking for a specific criminal or something, but then this topic never comes up again? What secret thing was he referring to?
I really liked this show, I think it is very well written and has high production value and great actors. I didn't watch it when it first aired, because I am not into the marriage contract trope, but it is actually quite a feminist show, better than I expected. I am shocked that so many comments are about how disappointing the second half of the show is and describe it as underwhelming and messy... really goes to show how different everyone's taste is.
This show is so bland and generic, its the same tropes we have seen a million times, but in a lower budget packaging and minus the chemistry... The villain is unreasonable and evil for the sake of being evil, otherwise there just wouldn't be enough plot to fill 12 episodes. I don't think these actors are a very good casting choice for this show, but also script is super weak, I don't think other actors could have saved it.
Other comments say "watch this if you are looking for something light", but I honestly don't think people should watch it, unless they want to be bored to death... The romance isn't even that compelling or fluffy, I don't know what the point was. They could have done something interesting with the premise and they just didn't. I did not read the webtoon, I am not emotionally attached to the original story, just looking at this is a stand alone story and it is such a nothingburger. People who think this is a pretty good show must have super low standards.
I made it to episode 19, when the dragon appears, but I kinda lost interest - when the characters get married they stop making out with each other and I wasn't super into the wild west subplot, does it get better?
