Kim Da-mi & Son Suk-ku’s appearance in Whenever Possible Season 3 (Ep 4) brought me here. So this good shit or not? (no spoilers pls) prob gonna watch it either way but just want to manage my expectations a bit through you guys
ngl for its content, this show lowkey has too many episodes, especially more so with the current trend of drama having fewer than 12 episodes nowadays.
10-episode drama, and they still made room for the ex to show up in more than one episode?! Not a big deal, but he better be a damn good catalyst for some rewarding moments for our main couple and not just an annoying insert to simply make the ML jealous.
I just finished episode 1, wtf this is actually so good? First time this year im calling a show underrated. Please let the rest of the of the episodes hit too 🙏🙏
the one who was the coward in the devil's plan was hyunjoon
idk bout that, he wasn’t in the same team as sedol so its not exactly a betrayal. As for the 7high part, either he or 7high had to be dropped at that point for him to be the top 3 since sohee and hyun-gyu were guaranteed safe. so his choice was understandable, even if its ugly, or even painful to watch. felt bad for 7high, but 7high also understood perfectly how desperate hyunjoon wanted to survive/win, and it’s all part of the game to use any means. And honestly I’d rather have such raw uglyness desperate-cy than having to see a player going out like kyuhyun
Episodes 2, 4, 10, 11 have post-credits scene btw.Thoughts about the show below:
I think this is the first time my opinion of someone (or two) shifted so drastically and quickly in the span of one episode (Ep 10). Such a pity, since So-hee & Kyuhyun started off as some of the more likeable players who I was genuinely rooting for. Absolutely disappointed.
The finals might honestly be one of the biggest throws I’ve ever seen in a survival game show. And I use the word “throw” loosely here, because So-hee was actually in the winning position in all 3 games. She played better, had the advantage, and still managed to lose those towards the end, ridiculously and frustratingly. Nothing against Hyun-gyu, since he honestly played decently well throughout (8x8 Knight’s Tour in 3D space isn’t easy), and sure, he earned the win. But the win was in no way convincing and rewarding enough for us viewers. I’d like to imagine that if So-hee had continued with the stalemate, the production team would have given her the chance to answer first, since she had more pieces after all (yes, pieces became completely irrelevant in the finals, tho I understand the point of having a pure capability 1 vs 1 showdown). But still, our girl just… gave in.
Jang Dong-min was absolutely right that people who do not have a strong desire to win shouldn’t participate in a survival game show. So-hee and Kyuhyun are prime examples. For them, it felt less like a mindset of “I want to win” and more like “it’d be nice if I won” type of shit. Their gameplay in Episode 10 was nothing short of absurdity and stupidity, reeking of hypocrisy. And I truly believe Kyuhyun thought he was making some noble, principled play that would be admired by the public. It was as if he was just playing for the image (imo), and not actually playing the damn game itself objectively anymore. Even Hyun-gyu understood that a game is just a game. something he himself stated. But So-hee and Kyuhyun, after seemingly understanding and acknowledging 7high’s talk, decides to jump ship back to Hyun-gyu due to what? Friendship? Loneliness? What in the half-ass commitment and mentality was that… simply disrespectful to other players and I’d argue even to some extent to Hyun-gyu too, since the highest form of respect isn’t about holding back or being polite, but to give your very best such that the competition would be honoured and recognized. Look what they had done now, they ruined the show entirely (at least for me since Episode 10) and Hyun-gyu’s win isn’t as congratulated now since they had already lowered the competitiveness of the entire program.
My respect goes out to 7high and Eun-yu, the two players I ended up liking and appreciating the most. They were the most self-aware, grounded, and clear about where the line is between gameplay and real-life relationships. 7high gave off vibes similar to Ha Seok-jin in Season 1.
Jung Hyun-gyu (University Student | MENSA Member — IQ 156) Yoon So-hee (So-hui) (Actress) Kyuhyun (Super Junior Member) 7high (Pro Poker Player) Son Eun-yu (Lawyer) Choi Hyun-joon (Kaist University Student/Model) Justin Min (Korean American Actor) Kim Ha-rin (Plastic Surgeon) Kang Ji-young (Announcer) Tinno (Board Game Youtuber) Lee Se-dol (Legendary Go Player) Park Sang-yeon (Yonsei University Student | MENSA Member) Lee Seung-hyun (Korea University Student) Chuu (Kpop Idol)
damn shes actually drop-dead gorgeous. I’ve seen many of her works by chance and always knew she was pretty, but maybe because i really like yiyoung’s character and her acting here, im like seeing her in an entirely different light.
or it might be in another place? I’m so confused right now
classic MacGuffin. I could be wrong, but I guess the statue dude was actually a true freedom fighter and pretended to be a japanese collaborator, so there was no gold all along or it was used up for his freedom fighting activities. or maybe the real ‘treasure’ is successfully preserving the education/school for future generations.
Not your most polished drama—entertaining at first to see how their relationship develops, but it grew stale once all the intrigue elements were gone. By Episode 7, I was losing interest, and from Episode 8 onward, finishing the show was a struggle. The chemistry wasn’t chemistry-ing enough to hold my interest, while the weak grandma plotline didn’t help either.
not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but for those who have finished and are starving for more of their content, remember to check out TFF cast on the chinese variety show—Hello, Saturday (H!6). Eng subs are available: https://youtu.be/rlhBgTtNjYY?t=192
Honestly, it's a serious and sensitive situation. Right now, it's just allegations—there’s no solid proof…
I’d usually factcheck too before I start mentioning about any hearsays from X. But one thing I can personally confirm was that he was posting birthday stories on his birthday on IG (I saw it back then) on the day she passed. Guy was celebrating when she died. Dude is DEFINITELY not clean given that they have some sort of relationship atp.
what’s his situation now in korea? is anyone here from there? i wanna know is he getting tha cancel he deserves…
not from korea but i believe the blocked news that people are saying is not entire true, did a search myself and his news appear at top 5 ranking in like at least 10 different news media. but ig that doesnt prove that theres no media play involved.
disappointed at first, but that quickly turned into disgust. it’s hard to fact-check every claim out there, but one thing I 100% know for sure is that I can clearly remember him posting birthday stories and celebrating on IG at that time (I was following his IG after QoT). Knowing that he certainly has some sort of relationship with saerom now, the thought of him celebrating on the day she died is making me sick to my stomach. absolutely vile and repulsive.
i replied same comment to someone but it is also my opinion on drama since some people LOVE this drama too muchIt…
everyone has their own form of escapism and that’s his, its not that big a of a deal since it does not harm others or his work. cliches are not necessarily = bad btw, and you complain about cliches but then what? you want a cliche CEO personality instead? at the end of the day if its such a turnoff for you just drop the show, even tho there are already signs that his interest is slowly diverting towards the FL more.
and yes, it’s your personal opinion, but i think you represent exactly those who judge the ML negatively for his hobbies in the show. if you can’t enjoy it, just drop.
'The First Frost' douban score - 5.4 (42k raters)https://x.com/ForCdrama/status/1894678932307231054?t=j0tE8EdEXPJC9fow9Jo5ag&s=19
I went to read the negative comments on both douban and weibo, filtering out those personal attacks on the actor/actress, apparently majority seems to hate the amount of xsr scenes it has (short for 性骚扰) which means sexual harassment. And some stated that the director added some of those xsr in the drama which wasn’t in the novel to make use of FL’s misery to highlight even more how good the ML is as a contrast which pisses a lot of ppl off (idk how true this is since I haven’t read the novel)
So this good shit or not? (no spoilers pls)
prob gonna watch it either way but just want to manage my expectations a bit through you guys

Honestly an easily forgettable show.
一年半载 (yi nian ban zai) = generally half a year to a year
you probably misunderstood, it’s a fixed expression or set phrase in chinese/mandarin so the subs are right.
