Jung Jong-yeon PD? I’m definitely watching. All of his works were a blast to watch (The Genius, Society Game, The Great Escape, Girls High School Mystery Class, The Devil’s Plan).
And we have Hyeri and Karina + brainy John Park + Kim Do-hoon (actor from Moving, first time as a regular cast on a reality show).

Hyunbin is just built different (genius). Dude’s an absolute monster, clearly the most well-rounded player by far. Not only is he mentally sharp, but he’s also extremely in control of his emotions and able to stay composed under pressure. He’s also a reliable leader who assures his teammates and keeps them grounded throughout. And let’s not forget how he managed 19 x 4-digit memorization in 5 minutes (and he didn’t even unlock it exactly in order; he jumps lockers sometimes😭).
Also some thoughts for 2 of the games: For the 300 maths question game, it came to my mind almost immediately (I’m tiny proud of it) that someone should null all the answers right from the start and start keying in 10 answers at a time to slowly check it, but I guess they definitely knew but no one was shameless enough to execute that in their first try lol (they have to show some class and confidence in their answers I guess).
And for the Match and Mix game, the immediate strategy I thought of for the starting duo is to have each person memorising just 5 or 6 pairs of numbers, like one guy handles numbered 1 - 6 pair, and another handles numbered 7 - 11 pairs, ignoring all other numbers, surely that would be simple to remember and they can win instantly considering that they only need 11 pairs to win the round, but they all went big brain trying to memorise the whole goddamn board somehow 😭. And the thing is, it worked out well for hyunjun and nayoon pair initially, tho nayoon subsequently totally broke during the 1v1 becuz she was trying to rmb everything under the elimination pressure 😢.

Pros: ◇Most deserved winners. ◇No social politics, betrayals, and deceptions, meaning there’s less-to-no drama, making it an easy watch for those purely interested in the problem-solving aspects. The competition relies purely on brainy aspects such as arithmetic, calculations, logical thinking, memorization, creativity, visual-spatial intelligence, etc. ◇Apart from the initial introduction, there are no intermission or filler-like screentime, going straight to the games, which is great imo. ◇Likeable cast, all displaying a certain level of competency and able to pull their own weight to some extent, with rather fun personalities. There are like no clear deadweights or free-riders (tho, if I had to name one, it would be Sky from Harvard University).
Neutral: ◇Just a bit too maths-focused imo, but at the same time, I guess it showcases their brilliant minds well. ◇Harvard University was a little disappointing, I’m not sure if they are also in the top 1% of their school or just top Korean students studying at Harvard. Don’t get me wrong, they are definitely smart, but they just feel somewhat outclassed here tbh. Janice is my favorite from the team btw.
Favorite Player: Hyunbin (Seoul National University). Least Favorite Player: Sky (Harvard University).

Others that have puzzles or problems-solving shows (but are less competitve/no PvP/with more comedy) that I enjoyed are: Girls High School Mystery Class (3 Seasons), The Great Escape (4 Seasons), New World, Busted (3 Seasons).
I’d have love it if they just sit both Kim Soohyun & Kim Jiwon down tgt and have them react to all the episodes (especially their scenes), if not, at least their reaction to their honeymoon kiss scenes lol.
Did you watch My Dearest? Does Namkoong Min deserve the Best Actor Award for TV?
Disappointed but also kinda expected given that the nominations list came up while it was airing (after ep 4) + KSH alrd won the popularity award so I doubt the judges would be gutsy enough to award him again under this context. I heard that there’s like 4-5 upcoming awards that QoT is eligible for so have hopes for that!
