Their love story is so haunting. I think she really loved his true self that we see more with GXW. It creeps in,…
I honestly don't think it would have ended differently. He can never make up for what he did to her. Also, I think that GXW and LCY are both who he really is. He is capable of being sweet but he is a monster. That's what made this show so heartbreaking. The first time I tried to watch it I couldn't finish it. It took me a second attempt to finish it. This is one of the few moments where I think a sad ending is perfectly justified because a "happy ending" would only be happy for him.
Also...Why is Yuan Su the crown prince instead of Yuan Hao? Ik that Yuan Su is smarter etc so his qualifications make him more suitable for crown prince however, I am assuming both Yuan Su and Yuan Hao's mothers are consorts of equal ranking, so wouldn't the next person to be put in the position be the eldest? I'm basing this logic of mine on other palace-like dramas that I've seen. Maybe I am overthinking.
A lot of people keep pointing out that the female lead pretending to be weak is obvious but...isn't that the point? There are a lot of characters like this in cdramas. For example, in minglan, one of the other scheming concubines kept acting weak and innocent and everyone saw through it except minglan's father who was in love with her. Her act doesn't have to be super believable, it just has to be enough to get her out of things/trouble.
Hmmm maybe I confused the book with the tv show. I'll have to go back and rewatch. From what I understood they had not completed everything but were in the process which is why I just concluded it as an engagement.
I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
I feel like I should read the book because maybe it will answer some of the remaining questions I have. But I am scared because I feel like it will be much sadder than the tv show. Also, I love you analysis. 100% agree.
In episode 4, the emperor said he has so many sons but only one trusted general which is HLL's dad. Well...he didn't say this, he thought it. So does that mean he's fooling everyone into thinking he doesn't trust the Hua family?
