Personally I think they were definitely a thing - In behavior during his talk with Mol was very telling. Just for repressed feeling you don't run away aboard for several years and then go full - hermit mode. It's not something like - my secret childhood love died - it's love of my life died behavior. I suspect that that Siam might have been dating both In and Mol at the same time - Mol was his cover, but after drink or two (Mol memories pointed at that direction) they made Wang... In spoke as if he only went aboard after Wang was born - so it possible that their romance broke much later that it was okay - that why In have guilty coincidence toward Mol.
The actor who plays In is really good - his character is just oozing guilt. Not the type of guilt I was somehow part of a bad situation and didn't do anything about it, but I took an active role to create a bad situation. I just don't believe In is an innocent passerby/ victim of a situation or whatever you want to call it - him being Wang father "close friend" is probably just the tip of the iceberg. There is just something dark about him.
