Yes, Shi Yan would easily be able to find a girl who would treat him much better. Unfortunately, he fell in love with her. The discussion topic "Choosing a Partner Like a Venture Capitalist with Shi Yan [Long] [Analysis]" lists some reasons why. And we can see how well matched they truly are. If only she can sort herself out, learn to be less self-centered and selfish. Hopefully their break-up will give her the wake-up call she needs.

That phrase, "Can I choose neither" is so devastating. After all Shi Yan is, after everything he did for her, she still couldn't choose him instinctively? No wonder she didn't want their relationship known 🤬 She is truly messed up. As her parents said, she is spoiled. That's why I was looking forward to this break-up. She needs something to make her grow up.

Exactly! Isn't the choice obvious between a gold-digging ex who dumped her for a "rich" girlfriend vs intelligent, upright, dignified, dependable Shi Yan who treated her like a queen after they became a couple? That was when I doubted her feelings for Shi Yan which was truly heartbreaking 😭

I agree. I don't think Shu Yi fully understands her feelings for Shi Yan herself. Even her reasons for pursuing him. One is for career advancement, which Shi Yan already knows and has accepted. But the second one, about getting back at her ex, is rather vague. In ep 22, when Xing Zhou asked her if she went after Shi Yan to get back at him, she was concerned that if Xing Zhou thinks so, Shi Yan would think so too. So, was it true? Yet Shu Yi wouldn't tell anybody, not even herself in her musings, whether it was true or not. I think that at first, that was her intention, but when she first saw Shi Yan, when he rolled down the window of his car when she pretended to be looking for a power bank, I think she fell in love at first sight. Her eyes couldn't hide her admiration at what she saw. So perhaps she pursued him because she liked him and just used career advancement and revenge as excuses when she talked with shanshan and also because she couldn't face the truth she fell in love with him.

I remember these coz I rewatch episodes every time there are no updates 😃 There are many details that are likely to be missed with the many things going on in each episode. That's why I can't understand those who say it's dragging. I'm already very focused on the drama when I watch, yet I still miss some details.

The most heartbreaking part for me was when Shi Yan asked Shu Yi, "How much do you love me... Compared to you ex-boyfriend, do you like him more? Or do you like me more?"

And Shu Yi repled internally, "What kind of choices are you giving me? Can I choose neither?", but outwardly, "Of course it's you"

My heart just broke for Shi Yan. He opened his heart to a pathological liar who, having gotten so used to lying, cannot anymore understand herself and separate truth from lies.

another example of many commenters who are attacking the drama without even bothering to understand it, let alone watch it. those who cry "no plot" are the worst lot. do they even know the meaning of plot? that slur sounds like something a yxh would originate and get propagated by haters

After Shi Yan and Shu Yi left the wedding party, he asked her in the car to explain the situation to him but she just slinked away from him. That would have been the perfect time for her to own up, before the driver and Shi Yue told him second-hand versions of the truth.

Regarding her other lies, she lied to everybody. She wouldn't tell her mom she had a boyfriend and kept letting her mom hope Yu You still has a chance. She lied to Shi Yue when she was telling the girl about the uncle-(wrong) niece situation. telling QSY she was not serious about the uncle, so that lie went back to SY, another knife that stabbed his heart. When SY wanted her to meet his niece at the hotel for the chips conference, she said she went to the conference to work so begged off meeting the niece. Next time he wanted to meet, she said she was exhausted. When she and Shi Yan were in the car, she was quietly anticipating meeting Lezhi. When Shi Yan asked what's the matter, she said she didn't sleep well. She lied to Guan Ji and Shanshan when they saw her and Shi Yan at the hotel lobby. And many more lies and as many wasted opportuniies to tell him the truth.

if you're going to attack a drama, at least watch it first. the ML had a girlfriend before he met the FL.

Whether you meant some fans or all fas, that's still an attack against commenters that I undertand is not to be tolerated in mdl. And i thought i had made it clear - attacking a drama once is understandable. A normal viewer would say his piece, drop the drama then move on. But continuously attacking a drama means something else. It's a move only haters would do.

Isn't a discussion board a forum where we can discuss any aspect about the drama, e.g. a break-up is a good thing if that would make a pathologically lying character grow up or the second couple needs to communicate better, etc. It may even be used to gush over how good looking the actors are. I've seen other comment sections that are filled with such comments, but do you see that in this section? Yet those who like this drama are accused of being blinded by admiration for the actors and having no critical thinking. Aside from such jabs, there are also commenters who keep attacking the drama and plugging in their favorite dramas. I would expect a normal viewer who dislikes a drama to just say his piece, drop the drama and move on. But there are those who keep attacking it and/or the actors. If that isn't hate, what is? Also, what would comments like 'I dropped this" contribute to the discussion? The only thing that it does is drip with malice.

Develop some critical thinking, for your own good." that's actually s comment that attacks other commenters. So you think we are blind and don't possess critical thinking?

I can accept people who comment once about not liking a show, though I really don't understand why people need to post things like that when they know there are others who like it. But why would people need to keep saying they dislike a show many times? it's not just a stark demonstration that they hate the show and/or actors, but also disrespect others who like the show . A normal viewer who dislikes the show would just drop it and move on, not keep attacking it.

i didn't say you attacked another commenter. i said attacking another commenter is an example of several reasons an admin would delete a post. It's an example. One of several reasons a comment may get deleted. If you don't think your comment deserved to be deleted, try to get hold of an admin. And you were the one assuming things, thinking somebody deleted it to please "blind fans who have no critical thinking"?

He found out that the reason the fl went after him was because the fl mistook him for the uncle of her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. That is, the fl was just trying to get back at her ex-bf and his new gf. And when the ml asked the fl to explain, she refused to say anything So he found out about this whole situation through other people. The ml was heartbroken that it wasn't him she was after. Actually, the situation is layered. The fl did learn to love the ml that's why she could not tell him the truth, she was afraid to lose him. But her lies caught up with her.

YXH and water armies have pervaded the whole internet. Aside from Weibo, they are in Douban and who knows what other Chinese sites. And the negative reviews these haters post make their way to Twitter, Youtube and other sites. That's the nature of the internet.

Nobody says this drama is perfect. What drama is? But the criticisms this drama has been getting skew to the unreasonable and ridiculous territory. Those who cry "no plot" are obviously not watching. Same as no chemistry. Because people who care to understand the drama will see the plot and feel the chemistry between the leads. And those who complain about Dylan"s "wooden acting" are probably parroting a video in Youtube that had likely been made by yxh or have read a comment from somebody who had seen the video or simply just prejudiced against Dylan. In fact a stoic (wooden) acting is an approrpiate interpretation of Shi Yan. He is a CEO, not a teenage boy. Shi Yan is also reserved and taciturn. Of course, for those used to overacting, this type of restrained, nuanced acting would look wooden.

Which review of yours got deleted? You mean a comment in this section? My understanding is that admins delete posts that don't conform to regulations. For example if you attack other commenters, your comment will be deleted.

I agree with somebody who said you owe other commenters here an apology. We are not as low as those who keep putting this show down then telling people to watch some other drama instead.

People indeed have different tastes and opinions. Many viewers do like the acting, story and pace of the drama as well as the chemistry between Shu Yi and Shi Yan
