As someone who loves angst and prefers to watch complicated relationships with complicated characters, over fluffy…
Being one who drops dramas quietly, aware of how different people's tastes are, i don't understand those who have to repeatedly announce their dislike of a drama. They might not like the story but others do. They might not see the plot but others do. They might not feel the chemistry between leads but others do. If they do respect other people's tastes and mindful that others are enjoying the show, what else could be the reason for repeatedly announcing dislike for a drama? Isn't it to discourage potential viewers or lure viewers away to other dramas? This is what yxh, internet vermin who are paid to spread hate against and negativity about celebrities and dramas, aim to do.
i’m on ep 21 and i really don’t understand what’s happening with the second couple, GJ + BRS. like what…
You hit a couple of nails on the head there. One, Shanshan is prone to make conclusions rashly. Guan Ji is known to be a playboy so she thinks he is just after her because he doesn't want to lose a "toy". But obviously she has feelings for him and those feelings are why she doesn't want to be just a toy. Two, they don't know how to communicate. I think Shanshan wants commitment from Guan Ji, like a ring 😊
What's this, a few conflicts and viewers are slinking away and cowering in frustration? Have dramas gotten so sanitized and viewers so pampered with beds of roses that stories are not allowed to have conflicts and characters cannot have flaws?
It's really easy to know when commenters just mean to defame a drama or actors - when the comments become unreasonable. When the drama is all pleasant and rosy, it's easily dismissed as boring and having no plot. When it becomes angsty, haters also throw all sorts of vitriol at it. (it's funny how people who throw all sorts of criticisms against a drama and its actors don't like to be called haters, even though that's what they are doing, including disparaging those who like the drama as blinded by admiration for the actors and having no critical thinking).
I've noticed a lot of viewers get frustrated with dramas that don't go their way. I've loved stories since I was a child, letting my parents read stories while I drifted off to sleep into worlds of the writers' imagination. Not once did I say, stop, I don't want to hear anymore coz I want the story to go this way and that, I want the princess to act this way and that, etc. And that's because I wanted to find out what the writer had in mind when he set out to tell the story. And most of the time, I ended up amazed at things the writer thought of that I did not envision.
A few times when I did feel strongly about a story that did not go according to how I wanted it to (after it had been read through), I wrote my own stories just to give vent to my frustration. This is why one time I commented that those who disagree with the scriptwriter write their own scripts.
What intrigued me most with this drama is how different the FL is from the conventional sensible FL who could do nothing wrong. And I'm eager for the scriptwriter and director to show me the journey this FL will go through to deserve a happy ending.
I was very happy with all the discoveries in episode 26
i'm impressed with how the revelation happened. The shock and dismay on Le Zhi's and Xing Zhou's faces were priceless and to have it happen so publicly after Le Zhi tried to shame Shu Yi at the party, giving Shu Yi a chance to say her piece, serves the mistress right. And now, the reckoning between Shi Yan and Shu Yi promises to be riveting.
Agree. She needs a rude awakening . He has been patient for too long. The lying is definitely second nature for…
i'm afraid current nurturing practices are creating over-confident and selfish children who think of themselves as the center of the universe whose whims need to be catered to by parents, teachers, government, etc.

so true! i think they got puffed up with their successful careers they became over-confident and selfish, just thinking of their own enjoyment not considering other people's feelings
Well the ML can be some embodiment of Mr. Darcy but out FL is no Eliza Bennet
LOL agree. For all her prejudice, Lizzy never lied nor acted like a 2-year-old, though it did take her a long time to realize her mistake about Mr. Darcy's character. even fancying herself attracted to Wickham 😄

Rude awakening is the perfect word. Pathological lying is a mental heath issue that even experts find challenging to cure. Shu Yi probably excuses her lies as harmless "white lies". But white lies are still lies. And they are never harmless. Getting used to them could lead to pathological lying. Perhaps a rude awakeing is what she needs to come to her senses.
Shiyan’s car was at the hospital where Shuyi saw her ex w/ mistress. Shiyan was at home. So some of us think…
Yeah, this knot had gotten wound up so tight, it was time for it to unravel. Though I feel sorry for Shi Yan, I love the way it happened, the way Le Zhi and Xing Zhou found out and how Shu Yi finds herself in a tight spot for her lies. She deserves to suffer for that tendency of hers to lie so easily.
Xing Zhou most probably told her since that is what he thinks. In ep 22, when Xing Zhou went to talk to Shu Yi…
my heart was heavy from the moment Shi Yan harbored suspicions about Shu Yi's intentions when he asked her to explain the situation but she would not talk to him in the car. That was the perfect time for her to come clean. Argh, I wanted to strangle the truth out of her then 🤬
How the hell Qin le zhi find out that shu yi approached shi yan to take revenge on the ex
Xing Zhou most probably told her since that is what he thinks. In ep 22, when Xing Zhou went to talk to Shu Yi about her getting involved with a married man then saw her getting into Shi Yan's car, he asked her if she's taking revenge on him. This is the reason Shu Yi does not want to see both Shi Yan and "the niece" at the same time coz she was afraid Le Zhi and Xing Zhou would tell Shi Yan so.
This is the first time that I approve of a break-up between leads in a drama. Shu Yi needs a comeuppance for the many lies she told. She lied so easliy, to Shiyan, her parents, her officemates, etc. It was second nature to her. Hoping a jolt like this can straighten her out for good.
The next episodes will be heartbreaking. I already feel like crying just watching video clips like this https://twitter.com/afterrnoont/status/1726127704574165423
