I think it would be unrealistic to expect fans to not give their idols' dramas 10 regardless of the dramas' quality. And the antis would give hated stars' dramas a rating of 1 regardless of quality. Since we can never know what the proportion of zealous fans would be compared to antis, we can never be sure these factions would balance each other out. This is why online ratings are virtually useless. I have since used a different way to judge whether a drama is worth watching or not - watch first 2 episodes. if I'm still ambivalent about whether to continue watching or not, I watch the last episode.
I still refer to Imdb for non Asian dramas though, since zealous fans and antis seem to only assault Asian dramas.

Hahaha, naughty is an apt description for Shu Yi 😄 she better make sure she doesn't lose Shi Yan. But man, her decisions are so wacky. She's so smart but not wise. If the reason she's hiding her relationship with him is because she's afraid her ex and gf (the mistaken niece) would tell Shi Yan she only got together with SY for revenge against her ex (as what her ex thought), it should be easy to explain her side to Shi Yan. Problem is, she's listening to Shanshan 🤨
i find Shu Yi unique in cdramaland, I haven't encountered another quite like her. She's smart and her values are intact. I like how she doesn't want to be bribed, even returned the clothes Shi Yue bought for her. But her decisions about her personal life, man, she's not the wisest girl. Her constant lying bothers me but I sure hope that's one of her flaws she sheds off as she matures.

hahaha, i did hear of several cases like this where episodes that were not yet out have already been rated 😄 Did you mean Princess Agents? It's one of my favorites ever yet it has such a low rating. Oh, actually, it can't be PA where Zhao Liying appears from the first episode. But PA is an example of a great drama that has a low douban rating.
Shu Yi sure is a challenging role to take on. I admire Bai Lu's courage. But hopefully the drama will show Shu Yi growing up, particularly punish her for always lying until she realizes that honesty is always the best policy. I've been noticing that lying female leads who do not receive their comeuppance for lying have become prevalent in cdramas. So it would be great if this drama gives Shu Yi her punishment

From the comments, it seems the main bone of contention is that the critics want to have immediate resolution to relationship issues, while those who like the drama don't mind watching the issues unfold as the writer/director want them to. It's instant gratification vs patience. Regarding douban, I used to believe in it despite some reservations about it due to some of my favorite dramas having low ratings like Princess Weiyoug, Princess Agents and The Sword and The Brocade. Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms used to have a low rating too, in the 50's, though recently has started to climb up the 60's level. But after witnessing what happened to Fireworks of my Heart, I started to believe how infested with antis douban has become. The tendency of zealous fans to overrate their favorites has also contributed to the site's unreliability. In fact, these problems also occur in any publicly-available online rating system. Antis and zealous fans have destroyed their reliability.
it's not bad at all. I've seen a lot of cdramas worse than this. It just has a different kind of female lead that does not fit into the mold of sensible, mature female leads cdrama viewers are used to. But I admire Bai Lu a lot that although Shu Yi has a lot of growing up to do, she is likeable.

i just re-watched ep 2 and it did show how Shi Yue and Le Zhi having the same surnames has some significance. Shanshan affirmed Shu Yi's mistaken assumption that Shi Yan is Le Zhi's uncle by saying Shi Yan does have a niece with surname of Qin. Shanshan has truly been the source of flawed information for Shu Yin 😄
