You know I thought it was a terrible idea having both dramas on at the same time but maybe it's a stroke of iQiyi…
i'm all for two strong dramas of different genres airing at the same time, like Barbie and Oppenheimer, the competition of which, called Barbenheimer, helped both movies. But what iQiyi did was hit Only For Love below the belt by releasing a drama with the same female lead in a genre that she excels in. It meant to cripple Only For Love. I would have understood it if it starred some other actor, but not Dylan who helped them a lot. I thought loyalty means a lot in China. I guess not. Chinese entertainment is such a dirty business π‘
Shi Yan and Shu Yi were so sweet strolling hand in hand, hugging and bantering in ep 22, it's so heartwarming watching them together, I didn't want the scene to end π
You know I thought it was a terrible idea having both dramas on at the same time but maybe it's a stroke of iQiyi…
I think what iQiyi did was extremely sneaky and in poor taste. Good business-wise, but incredibly unfair to Dylan who helped iQiyi become the powerhouse it is now. Before Love Between Fairy and Devil, iQiyi was struggling.
Before the airing of Only for Love on 3 Nov. MangoTV had @4% market share compared to iQiyi with @28% market share. After 3 Nov, MangoTV started ruling the charts. The drama Fearless, an iQiyi production, couldn't compete. I think iQiyi got scared that MangoTV would do what it (iQiyi) did when LBFAD aired. Become a powerhouse. So iQiyi released SOKP, dividing Bai Lu's fans, who prefer her more conventional character in SOKP than her quirky character in Only for Love. In addition, Bai Lu's costume dramas tend to be more popular than her modern dramas.
I don't have anything against SOKP. I just think iQiyi treated Dylan horribly.
Wow! Despite all the critics and complaints! Good for it!ππ»ππ»ππ»
Yup, it has already garnered more than 1 billion views in MangoTV and 3 million views in TrueID. It has topped the Vlinkage TV show chart in China since it aired on 3 Nov. It has consistently rated above 2 in Datawin since 4 Nov. (2 means it's a hit drama). It is also the most popular show in Viki for the week.
Seems like there's a lot of confusion about the relationship between Shu Yi's ex-bf's girlfriend and Shi Yan, so hopefully this will help clarify the situation:
Shu Yi saw her ex-bf's gf get into Shi Yan's car after saying her uncle was waiting for her. And her gold-digging bf is awed at the license plate numbers of his gf's uncle's cars that probably indicate how important they are in his eyes. Shi Yan's rolls royce has a plate number of all 6. Because of these, Shu Yi concluded that Shi Yan is the gf's uncle.
She doesn't know that her intern, Qin Shi Yue, is Shi Yan's niece.
Shu Yi once told Shi Yue about falling for her ex-bf's gf's uncle, since she thought Shi Yan is the gf's uncle. Shi Yue has been calling "the uncle" uncle too, not realizing that "the uncle" is really her uncle.
I'm finding this really funny and a brilliant set-up of a topsy-turvy situation. Am excited to see how the misunderstanding is cleared up.
Only for Love is the first modern drama to reach 110 M in Douyin Drama Ranking. According to Google, Douyin is the second most popular Chinese app (with 746.5 million monthly active users), just behind WeChat (with 1.3 billion users).
Love Between Fairy and Devil is the first drama to break heat index 100M in Douyin Drama Ranking, reaching 110M too.
Before Only For Love, only 4 dramas (all costume drama) have reached 100M.
Why is everyone complaining about not having a plot. The misunderstandings are considered to be a plot on a real…
it seems a lot of viewers don't understand the meaning of plot. They seem to think that a drama needs to be this labyrinthine puzzle to be considered as having a plot.
Here's a definition from Oxford Languages, "the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence."
In other words, a plot consists of events presented in an interrelated sequence.
Viewers who watch the drama to understand it and not to throw stones at it clearly see its plot.
no. that's a misunderstanding on Shuyi's part. her ex-bf's gf is not related to Shi Yan
Handsome, reserved, taciturn, stoic, rich, sweet to his relatives, devoted to one woman - I couldn't help thinking of Mr Darcy whenever I see Shi Yan π His dapper look in riding outfit sealed the deal π₯°
Indeed! Are we at kindergarden? Mine is better!π
haha great analogy π their tactic is so in you face too, no subtlety or finesse. if their drama is really good, it should be marketable on its own merit without them needing to disparage other dramas π
βjust read a twitter post from an SOKP viewer reporting that there are fans of other dramas (not OFL; OFL fans also love SOKP) trying to urge viewers to drop SOKP and watch their dramas instead.
So itβs not just happening here where people make all sorts of complaints about OFL then exhort viewers to watch some other dramas instead.
This tactic is really low. How desperate can people go?
"I don't care why you approached me... I accept it all... I won't wait anymore" π₯°ππ₯°
And with that, the kiss drought ended and SY and ZSY advanced to the next level of their relationship. π₯°π₯°π₯°
For those who are wondering why ep 19 was shown at 13:14 on 11/11, it's because 13:14 means forever. And SY and ZSY officially became a couple in this episode.
