I am so pleased with the visual storytelling here. That handing of the mallet to SM but him putting it down to show refusal in having that "happy life" with DZ knowing that he is dying. In that montage during SM's alone time, it showed the people he loved and lost. He is prolly scared of losing himself to the poison and "losing" her in the process. Perhaps he thought cutting off DZ now would be better than making her a grieving widow.
But alas Song Mo you cannot cast her off because the lady you chose is steadfast and true. She will stick to you whatever the end may be. SM telling her the truth, coming to terms with DZ's love and loyalty to him, and them acknowledging their commitment to each other with a kiss was beautiful. Wasn't it so symbolic that they took off their masks before the consummation?

It started out slow and the CG was atrocious (esp.after watching TTEOM) but the story picked up and I liked how equal the ML and FL are. My gripe in many Cdramas is that it is very ML-oriented so the FL is just like a damsel in distress most of the time. UTB goes against this since the FL was so strong and they both worked towards saving their world.
