The only OST I like from this drama is "Sa Ji" that played during the festival when TTJ and YXW were reenacting the battle from 10,000 years ago.

I think they are afraid of possible backlash from fans/antis/netz in general.
TTJ is a morally gray character and it would have been nice if they showed more of that. We'd still love him though coz I mean he is bring portrayed by Luo Yunxi. 😂

True! That's why I kept saying before that the screen writers should have balanced them out.
While they cannot follow what TTJ did in the novel (the ML torturing the FL prolly won't pass censorship), they should have shown more vindictiveness, like keeping YXW/LSS in a really dark dungeon for a long time. This part is important because 500-years-later LSS still has an extreme fear of the dark because of this and has an effect for the devt of LSS and CJM's relationship.

Then again, they changed so much of the story so... 🤷‍♀️

There is a higher purpose for it as planned by Ji Ze, helped by Ming Ye, and to be executed by Li Susu. Alice explained it somewhere in the earlier comments.😊

As far as I know, he is the immortal "child" that Ji Ze pushed off from the immortal realm stairs to follow the camellia flower that fell to the mortal realm. Camellia is Xiao Lin in human form. That's why PYX always follows XL. Their bromance is courtesy of Ji Ze. 😂

Frankly, I dislike Bitchang so much that I didn't pay attention to the conferred title in the drama.
In the novel, there are levels amongst concubines and TTJ gave her the 2nd highest title. I assumed it was the same in the drama. 😅

Yes. I know they have strict regulations. But that is why, knowing the ins and out of your characters can help you write beyond that. No need to go into silly cliches or illogical tangents.
There are parts that the drama improved on but the novel also possess so much more internal logic.
There are some Cdramas that show the grayness of the characters well without sacrificing the original characterization due to censorship.

Yup. Drama writing has been lazy and frustrating in the lead up to the tower scenes. There are so made up scenes that deviated from the novel but instead of enhancing the story just made many plotholes and very uncharacter-like moves.

I don't necessarily believe drama adaptations should follow the novel to a T but writers should at least stick with the psychology/motivations they bestowed on the characters in their world building in the first place. Make it make sense.
