It starts confusing, stays confusing but gets interesting then ends with an explanation I didn't see coming. Genuinely…
can you explain me like what they wanted to convey?

Unlike Zheng Wu’s father, who was selfish to the core and willing to sacrifice his sons in the name of family, Cui Shijiu’s father genuinely loved her. He wanted her to have a normal life. While he disapproved of her masculine attire, he still gave her the freedom to take charge on multiple occasions. So it’s only natural that she couldn’t just turn her back on him.

My girl was one good daughter 🥺❤️✨️

Her actions were clearly shaped by the events around her, which is likely why the writer showed her some leniency. While she was painted as a villain, her desperation wasn’t rooted in malice but in a need for validation and love. That’s why, in the end, the FL chose to make her a bestie. But why such a sudden shift? Why extend friendship to someone who nearly ruined her life?

Perhaps it’s because Cui Shijiu, for all her flaws, wasn’t inherently cruel. She didn’t harm others without reason and was genuinely kind to those loyal to her. Her only fault was being on the wrong side.

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
no she was evil, she clearly killed innocent people and made the girl suffer…she wasn’t supposed to have a…
In the story, FL thanked Cui Shiju for saving the workers trapped in the dungeon, which showed some empathy, even though she wasn’t overly kind. But from Cui Shiju’s point of view, ML was always trying to ruin her family. If she were the female lead, constantly discriminated against and trying to prove her worth, having a powerful businessman like ML suddenly come into her life and disrupt everything would be incredibly frustrating.

ML was also very cruel at the beginning. He treated FL badly, like when he tied her to the boat. We start to like him because of his tragic past, but it’s hard to see if he truly redeemed himself. His main change seems to be just falling in love with FL, which doesn’t feel like enough to make up for his earlier actions.

Cui Shiju, on the other hand, suffered for her mistakes, and her character development was one of the best parts of the story.

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
I’m so happy to see my girl Cui Sijui finally find happiness. She was portrayed as an antagonist, but in reality, she was just trying to prove her worth to her father, whom she deeply loved. She wanted to live up to her mother’s expectations and wasn’t even aware of the dirty schemes her family was involved in. She was simply focused on doing her job to the best of her ability. I’m glad she finally found someone who truly loved her and gave her a sense of belonging—a real home.

As for Lusi, she absolutely nailed the aesthetics, but something felt missing. It seemed like they gave her too much to handle, to the point where nothing really stood out anymore. Regarding the ending, I honestly have no strong opinions. I wanted their business to stabilize and surpass the benchmarks set by men. However, the idea of glorifying pain to make it meaningful doesn’t sit right with me anymore. Perhaps the writer’s intention was to show all the women uniting without any interference from men, it that's the case - well done lol

Cui Shiju and Zheng wu, Their love story is sexier than the main leads love arc, and I am crying for them no matter how cruel they are to the rest of the people ~

Nice review! And a review that can be written for many recent doramas!
Thank you, and it's so true—newer dramas just don't compare to how they used to be. I can't think of any recent drama that has truly left a lasting impression on me.

Honestly, if they keep adding more melodrama instead of letting the FL grow stronger and rebuild herself, I’m probably going to drop it. It’s disappointing, especially since, like you mentioned, I haven’t skipped a single scene so far.

I started losing interest when they made the couple fall in love so quickly. We only saw the ML trust the FL with business work, and then suddenly he's in love with her just because she saved him once. I really wanted the show to focus more on the FL's journey, though I didn’t mind the other arcs either. But now, with everything turning into such a mess, it feels more like a revenge tale than a story about business development and freedom.

After years of watching dramas, how tf have I still not understood that if there are too many happy moments, something terrible, very terrible, is going to happen!!!!!!!

Judging by clips, I thought it was just the FL getting kidnapped, but oh lord.

Title The Judge from Hell Spoiler
This was actually GREAT. First, I didn't expect it to be a fantasy/gore drama, but FL was literally from THE ACTUAL HELL lol, and I was like tf fr?
I didn't get many demon & angel theories, like why demons are still serving God n all, but everything else was so addicting. Fl was cool af, not giving shit and always in fuck you mode, and she did a character development arc, but her core personality was intact, and I LOVED IT. We often see that main characters are not excused for killing people; it's always "Leave it to Law." One of the classic Indian movies, Sholay, had to change their ending because they thought MC killing the villain would give the wrong message to people, but then it was kind of supernatural, so I hope people won't complain because I personally enjoyed it so much. Also, I know there will be Season 2, a lot of scope i sense, plus the love story just started, so yeahhhhhhhhhhh.

yk I love stories like this, very much like the weak hero but not, trying to find your true potential, the girl really survived 100+ people trying to kill her when she doesn’t even fuc*ing know why, I mean —
Slay but stay safe.
