1. Sad ending.2. Milesssss better than red moon pact.
I see...I am glad this is miles better in terms of production but the sad ending kinda makes me hesitate haha...Maybe I will have to prepare my heart first, then...Thanks for replying! Btw by SE is it that one of them dies or both? Or do they just not end up together?
I haven’t started this drama yet, but I’m planning to check it out soon. So I have a few questions before diving in:
1. Based on the comments, am I right in thinking this Cdrama is actually a prequel to Red Moon Pact in terms of the timeline? If so, what kind of ending do the main couple have? Is it sad or more open-ended?
2. So far, is this drama better than Red Moon Pact? The previous one didn’t really work out for me, whether it was the editing, script, or overall execution...So I would like to know if it gets better here!
Ikrr?? The main couple here also reminded me of IkSong a lot >< And yeah we are already half way through...I am…
Yes definitely, IkSong shared a much deeper bond with a longer history compared to our lead couple here. Btw, your patience to type their whole dating timeline from beginning to end is truly comendable haha ><
Any patients or cases stand out for you in each episode?Patients were the core of HP. The acting there were phenomenal.…
Well, I don’t know about you, but as someone who watched Hospital Playlist and is currently watching Resident Playbook, both shows moved me to tears multiple times with the patients’ stories. Sure the romance in Resident Playbook is a bit more upfront compared to HP S1 but I don’t think it takes away from the main focus which is the medical slice-of-life storytelling. If anything, the romance here is still subtle, more like breadcrumbs. The leads just have a really warm, affectionate and playful dynamic with noticeable chemistry, which naturally gets people talking. Even from ep1 you could see from their casual convos that they are comfy around eo.
Also, it’s worth considering the different stages in life the characters are in. Hospital Playlist focused on people in their 40s, professors who’ve already gone through most of life’s major experiences. They’re seasoned professionals. Meanwhile, in Resident Playbook, we’re following Gen Z residents in their mid-to-late 20s who are just starting out in both their careers and adult lives. It’s completely natural for romantic feelings or dating to take up a bit more space in their world as they try to balance work, personal growth, and relationships imo.
As for your last point, yes academic and professional achievements are important. I am regretably an example myself on being currently in last year of Uni but still single cause of focusing on seminars etc. But there are only certain phases in life where love tends to bloom more easily and youth is often one of them. You can’t always schedule love like a to-do list. In high school, you’re focused on exams, in Uni it’s all about studying and then at work it’s nonstop career building. By that logic, people would only start dating in their 30s! While that’s totally fine for some but for others being in a relationship can actually help them thrive at work. I have seen it with my friends. So it really depends on the person.
Plus, in this case, both characters are doctors working at the same hospital. That shared experience helps them understand each other deeply, especially with how demanding the job is. That mutual understanding can reduce miscommunication and support a healthier bond overall, don't you think?
Btw I still remember Yoo Seok/Jaeil from "Light on Me" drama I watched years ago~ Especially his goofy smile reminds me of Shinwoo from back then >< He has come such a long way, our golden retriever! Ever since then, I could see his potential honestly and I am glad to see him getting all these opportunities in recent years! In Ep 5-6 this week, we also got to see more of him, along with his struggles and growth while working and I am glad for it! I hope in the remaining episodes, we will also get to see more of the other two girls of the group. Plus I am very curious to see Jaeil's love line with the other resident (I'm honestly thinking it's Sabi).
am I the only who thinks this like super profound crush on do won came out of nowhere? like they didn’t even…
I mean it definitely could have been smoother but there were subtle hints given to us in the first 3 episodes. We saw them have that playful, bickering dynamic, like teasing each other all the time. It immediately gave off childhood friend vibes you know? The kind where they act annoyed and argue, but you can totally tell they’re going to end up together eventually lol And honestly, I don’t think it felt that sudden. If you watch closely, her attitude toward him starts shifting as early as episode 2 especially after she sees how he is at work. He stood up for her not once, but twice, and he treated all the new residents with so much care and respect. That clearly made her start seeing him differently copared to how he is at home vs. how he is professionally. That said, yeah, it wouldn’t have hurt to include a short inner monologue scene or even just a quiet moment to show her inner thoughts and help the audience follow that emotional shift more smoothly. But to be fair, since this is a medical slice-of-life show, a lot of the character development in their personal lives is shown more through results rather than the full process. I think that’s just part of the genre but also, it could come down to the editing or writing being a bit rough around the edges.
They're intentionally making it a slow burn more like IkSong from Hosplay... Damnnnnn seriously it's about to…
Ikrr?? The main couple here also reminded me of IkSong a lot >< And yeah we are already half way through...I am so sad it only has 12 eps TT We definitely need at least another season of this!
anyone else watching this but not the og hospital playlist ? xD
Actually, I watched it years ago up to ep3 and remember dropping it cause I was not filling it at the time...Now that I have started RP and since I had nothing else grabbing my attention, I gave HP another go while waiting for new eps and found it more interesting than I did back then. But yeah, tho they share a similar theme and universe the overall vibes and character settings are different, so it would be very possible to not attract the same audience (ofc there are always exceptions who enjoy both lol). So yeah, I doubt you are the only one ><
Btw there’s been so much chatter and comparison between this kdrama and HP in the comments and though understandable since they come from same production it’s starting to feel a bit exhausting, cause things are actually pretty simple for me:
This show was never meant to be a carbon copy of HP. Spinoffs usually take inspiration from the original’s tone or themes, but then carve out their own identity. If it were the same, we’d be just watching HP S3. Both are medical slice-of-life dramas, but they each have their own story to tell.
Personally I haven’t really felt the need to compare the 2 while watching and have been able to enjoy them separately. The main cast here is entirely new, and the focus is different since it's from the residents' point of view. But if I had to compare, I’d say I find both shows equally enjoyable, just in different ways. Each has its strengths and flaws, honestly. For example, I found some of the stories in HP (especially in Season 2) less engaging than the ones here. And while I loved the band scenes in every ep at first, they started to feel repetitive after a while. On the flip side, I wish RP would give more individual focus to each main character, HP did a great job on fleshing out its leads over time and their friendship. (Maybe with a S2 RP could achieve this if they would start focusing on the other residents there, but we would have to wait and see).
All in all, if you’re a fan of medical slice-of-life dramas with multiple patient cases every few eps and as plus a Genz this show is definitely a good try for you. It’s heartfelt, fresh, and genuinely fun to watch.^^
Each episode so far gets better and better! The patient cases in the latest ep genuinely brought me to tears, they were so moving and heartfelt. It's incredible how deeply emotional and layered the storytelling has become. I'm completely invested now. And don’t even get me started on the chemistry between our leads, it’s utterly captivating. They light up every scene together! ><
I haven't yet started this, but from the synopsis alone, this cdrama immediately reminded me of Are You the One and I just hope it can turn out just as good here cause I remember really liking the other one >< The main leads seem like new faces who usually play supporting characters, right? I think I have seen FL in some other drama in the past but can't remember much of her. I hope the acting will be good.
When does the love quadruple end? do all of them get HE? i really like the show and everything but love triangles…
Around ep 8 i think and yes everyone get their own happy ending. Love triangle isn't a major part of the show for me so I think you safe. It's just used as plot device and all issues created cause of it don't last long.
Btw by SE is it that one of them dies or both? Or do they just not end up together?
