First, the synopsis is wrong and I saw this same synopsis elsewhere so I really don't know why. If you're looking for a 'she suggests a three-some' that NEVER happens 🤦♀️ The ML and her 'dead husband' never even live together. So overall this was a weird one for me. I liked the overall story but it also felt like the plot kept changing and leaving things out. For instance they leave one house and are in another but how and when did the ML find that house? A other time there's an older lady who comes over and gives the FL money and tells her a story but the story made no sense to me... something about her son being bullied and stopping being a scholar so that he could be a soldier...? 🤷♀️😮💨 There's the whole part also where I still don't understand why the ML was made a slave... He said something bad against the Emperor? But then the Emperor sees him and he's all happy as if he hadn't reduced this guy down to LITERALLY being a slave.
This one didn't grab me... I felt the FL was rather annoying with her insistence one moment that she loved him and the next anytime he came near her she'd shrink away. Also the entire story where she's married to a high level Eunuch who is also the generational hierarchy superior yet they have zero issue with making fun of the FL and attacking her was frustrating.

Finally watched this version. First, Akilyar's wig and general look is criminal, and the FL's isn't much better just not 'quite' as bed because there isn't a wig. The story has some issues with not showing parts of the story and so you're left getting half of the reason behind things but not the full picture on why some of the things happened and how they were known to her. All in all it's an okay version of this story but still leaves things to be desired, especially if this is your only version watched. My overall favorite is still The Young General's Amnesiac Childhood Sweetheart but that version has multiple things that also aren't covered but this one does such as the letters. Qing Mei Zhui Meng meanwhile changes some of the story (such as regaining her memories earlier) but does cover the letters and depression better than either of these other two versions.

For anyone looking to watch this thinking Akilyar has significant scenes, the Emperor is the true 'screen time' ML and Akilyar has a few support scenes sprinkled in.
I liked the 'idea' of this story but the actual execution left me with a feeling of lack. I can suspend disbelief so the ML waking up from a coma and immediately being able to do everything didn't bother me, but where I had issues was the lack if details such as the 2ML's change from liking FL to 'hating' her (yes its given the barest answer but it was basically a non-answer that made me go 'what???').
Does she really lack all five senses? From what I can see, she definitely has at least two. She can hear, and…
The best way our group who's watching it came up with is that the subtitles state she loses her '5 senses' but it's more like she doesn't have the '5 pleasures'. So she can hear but music is a pleasure so it's denied her. She can see but it's in black and white so nothing to 'feast her eyes on'. She can eat but without being able to taste anything there's no pleasure in eating and she doesn't really 'need' to, smell is the same just a denied feature, and touch - she can technically 'feel' things that allow her to be able to pick items up and walk around normally... but the 'pleasure' of contact with another person is denied.
Most comments seem to praise this but I was disappointed. Normally I like Yi Hang (haven't seen anything from FL) but personally to me I felt the pacing was inconsistent and the editing could have been better. On the positive though, the story emotions of the MLs character were really good. I couldn't connect as well to the FLs though, perhaps because there was no internal monologue to help understand what's going on in her mind? Finally, the ending was abrupt with its editing and I was dissapointed in getting a lack of answers on what happened the rest of the night... 😮💨
