YES! when Gi Tae showed up I was like: whaaaat? haha But they only used the same name, he was a different character. I feel like they also had some music/sound references. I love both dramas!

I usually don't watch dramas with a rating lower than 7.5 or so, but I made an exception for Nam Gung Min. I didn't regret it!! The ratings really don't do it justice. Some people may be put off by the unusual setup of this drama, but I thought it was really refreshing. Funny and yet with some lessons to learn, a good slice-of-life. Give it a chance, just be open-minded, and remember it is a drama about second chances in life :) 7.5/10 from me

I don't really think that's the case for Lee Min Ho. If you take a look at his roles, most of them were romantic comedies/Flower Boy type of dramas. He took on movie roles to do some mature acting for once, and who can blame him? He also did some music recordings and such. Not starring in a drama for 2 years isn't all such a huge deal, it doesn't mean anything. So yeah, lets just hope for the best :) Personally I haven't gotten a 'jerk' impression from him...

You have no common sense if you judge an actor by the roles they have played. Firstly, their management decides on those roles, and secondly, there is always someone who has to take on the role of an unlikeable character. On the contrary, I think it is commendable that some actors take the risk to get a bad image by giving life to these roles. Regardless, it is just an ACT, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with their real persona. It's simply their JOB. But anyway, I've seen several degrading and mean comments you've left, Mr. Blademan2, and I just sincerely hope you'll not continue to load your anger and hatred onto people who have nothing to do with you.

Agreed, I hated her in You're Beautiful (the acting in this drama was really bad overall anyway...) but she won me over in Ho Go's Love and Marriage Contract. Two really emotional but beautiful family romance dramas!

65 kg?? lol As if xD Anyway, currently watching Marriage Contract, cannot say I find him particularly handsome, but I suppose he can be viewed as attractive... He's a perfect match for the role, at least (just a tad bit too old mabye).

Let me start by saying that I probably had a bit too high expectations of this drama due to all the overwhelming praise it has gotten here. To me, this drama felt like a High School drama placed in an adult world of some sorts. Complete with school bullies, cheerleaders, and loads of competition. The reason why I am saying this is because even though it is placed in a political environment, things were so exaggerated, so over the top, that in some instances, I just couldn't take it seriously. Who the hell would ever lose their minds the way some of the people in this drama did? The evil plots were too fake, the happy cheering scenes too ridiculous (complete with slow-motion and celebratory music) and all the problems were exaggerated so much that when they were resolved 10 minutes later, it all felt so anticlimatic. The amount of tears in this drama, probably exceeds the one in Heirs. I am not joking. It's not even only the heroine (in the second half of the drama she cries in like... every episode, multiple times, sometimes even hysterically breaking down), no, also the leading man gets his fair share of manly tears. So much, that the scenes that ARE heartbreakingly sad, suddenly don't feel like such a big deal anymore.

*takes a deep breath* Okay, sorry for the rant. I don't want to leave the impression that this drama is all bad, because it is not. It is actually quite good, if we just leave aside all the unnecessary crying and drama. The leads have great chemistry and even though I find Mi Rae's character development too unbelievable (going from 0 to 100 practically overnight doesn't add up, like many other things), they make for an enjoyable watch. The side-characters were nothing special but they did have their moments. I was going to give this drama a 6.5, but the ending was possibly one of the most satisfying endings in dramaland, so I'll settle on a generous 7/10.

Agreed 100% with your review. The last two episodes ruined pretty much everything this show stood for. It was so unbelievable. He had a fucking STAB WOUND and the so called love of his life couldn't even notice that?? What's with the sudden and fake remorse the villains show? urgh, I was so so disappointed.

LOL that made me crack xDD So true. I wished more romantic dramas had a conventional way of falling in love. Like... you know... meeting, talking to each other, liking each other, then dating. The way it should be. It doesn't even have to be boring xD One of the reasons why I appreciate DOTS so much. Their way of falling in love was authentic.

I thought the same. Influenced by all the bad reviews I didn't even want to touch the drama with a wooden stick. But then I was craving a drama that wouldn't get me to think too much, so I gave it a shot, and I was positively surprised, as I had little to no expectations. It's really not that bad, I have seen much worse (You're beautiful, She was pretty, High School King of Savy etc. etc.)... The heirs might be a bit boring and predictable, but it is possible to enjoy it and the supporting characters are actually great. Well, not all, but some. The main couple is bland, but they can be cute...

Also, I really hope Park Shin Hye will get some roles in the future where she is allowed with however much passion she wants lol something tells me she has kissed people before and actually knows the ropes. I am not sure if it's her management's or the director's fault, but I noticed with a lot of actors that they kiss great in some dramas and are like statues in others.... Thankfully actual skinship in Korean dramaland seems to become more passionate as time goes on, so there's hoping.

Oh and I loved that you mentioned how she's not actually poor lol I mean, ok, she was trying to run away from home that's why she flew to America, she was ready to just blow it all, but... well, even LATER in the series, I was amazed just how many different winter coats and jackets she has lol If the family was that poor, she would NOT have half a dozen different winter coats. *facepalm* oh well...

This is a very good article, and I agree with you especially about the last three episodes or so. I actually saw some potential there, those episodes made me FEEL something. I'm just gonna copy/paste the comment I wrote on the Heirs page haha:

So, let me tell you something: This show is by no means great. But it's also not terrible. It's your typical rich guy/poor girl story, with the exception of it taking place in High School. So the only 'plot' happening in this is: Who gets the girl? Who gets the company? The story could definitely have more backbone and substance, as it was quite bland. However, some things were funny, some things were cute, some where a bit sad, but mostly, it was a huge cheese-fest. The amount of cheesiness in this show is no joke. The amount of clichés in this show is to be expected, but I still wish they could have toned it down some. Now, the only thing in this show that was REALLY terrible was the 'love is the moment' theme song, that I felt was haunting me in my nightmares. Thankfully they toned it down in the later episodes, but I couldn't stop cringing each time it came on at all the wrong moments. Urgh.

All in all, Cha Eun Sang proved to be no different (aka, lukewarm and very boring) than most other clichéd female leads, much to my disappointment. The love triangle between her, Tan and Yeong Do was funny at times, and outright infuriating at others. I would say it improved over time. Contrary to many other shows, I felt like the drama didn't get worse as time went on, but stayed about the same.
I am pretty sure I will never watch it again, but I also don't regret having invested the time. Near the end there were actually some moments and developments that touched me (the dead-body drawing explanation for instance, I didn't expect that), and some character-dynamics I really loved (Tan's and Eun Sang's mothers, Yeong Do/Rachel/Hyo Shin, BoNa/Chan Yeong). Choi Yeong Do had the greatest character development, and even though I hated him in the beginning, I could make peace with him in the end.

To sum it up: You might enjoy it if you don't have too high expectations and if you can deal with a very romance-focused and somewhat ridiculous plot and LOADS of crying. At least the supporting characters do somehow make the show worth its while. 6/10

I am curious about your score breakdown, so I'll check out your drama. While I know it has its flaws, I still gave the drama a score of 9.5. Simply because no other drama (besides It's Okay That's love), has held my attention that intensely, made me laugh and cry and tremble and feel such a loss once it was over. So even though it has its flaws (as every drama does, there is no 'perfect'), to me it is an indicator that they did something right :)

Very nice review, though I must disagree on your POV on the second half of the story, hehe. It's been a while since I watched it, but I do remember everything clearly, which is always a good indication that a drama was good enough to be memorable. Some of the dramas I've seen a month ago I cannot even recall any names or interesting scenes.
Either way, if you regard everything that happened in the first half of the drama, the build-up and the new discoveries Puchai made along the way, I can very well understand his reasoning and the choices he makes eventually. Resolution is one thing, but being shaken by things unforeseen is just a human trait. I also really like that Na Na DOESN'T let him push her away, contrary to so many other dramas out there. It is true that she gets less screen time, and i'd have loved to see her kicking some more ass. The final episode and show-down was really intense in my opinion, I held my breath and could barely believe it, and actually shed some tears. Either way, I am planning to re-watch it soon, I may come back to revise my comment accordingly :)

Oh and btw, the MUSIC is still the best OST up to this date, in my opinion. Especially the instrumental score. The fire of love, Hot Spade, City Hunter, Eagle Eye, Fire Flower, Glory of the City, and above all, Sad Run and Endless Crying. Just for these scores alone the music deserves a perfect 10 in my opinion. I've had them on my ipod for months and still get goosebumps when I listen to them. Simply breathtaking! The Korean songs weren't as good, but some catchy tunes like 'It's Alright!' or Suddenly and Lonely Day were memorable.

LOL at least his mask covers his mouth and nose and sometimes he wears a hat as well. In Bridal Mask the main character has a mask that only covers the upper part, is so much easier to see who he is, it's that IN YOUR FACE. It actually annoyed me so much more than City Hunter, especially because at least in City Hunter he tries to hide and do his missions where not many people can see him. Anyway, I love City Hunter, and even though of course there are some things that are illogical, that's the case for pretty much every Action drama. It's still very well done, in my opinion :)

I don't see it as a love triangle, actually. It was never really acted upon. Cha Yoon Suh had already moved on from her crush on the professor, she simply admired him as a doctor and treated him as a friend. Of course if you liked someone for a long time, you will always have some sort of feelings left, but I don't think she ever considered to date him, at least not by the point he was sort of implying it.
Kim Do Han on the other hand just took the advice that Chae Kyeong gave him. It was more of a way of taking the easy way out. I think the writers dealt with the situation very well. I liked that it was handled without unnecessary drama. They didn't call it a date, but could still test out the waters. After seeing it wouldn't work, they went their separate ways again. I wished more K-dramas were that subtle :)
