That's good to hear, that it's resolved in the end and gives a positive message, because I watched at least half the show (had to drop it because some things were just difficult to watch...) and it was still riding on the 'beauty is everythig' wave. Thanks for clarifying. I might try to give it a third chance when I'm in the mood for something silly.

I really want to see Cha Eun Woo in a more mature romantic drama. I tried watching it again, but I just cannot get over the cringe. Some parts are funny but they didn't balance comedy and drama very well. Bullying is such a serious topic, I mean in the first episode she tried to commit suicide for heaven's sake, but the way they played it down afterwards left a bad taste. Then she puts on a tiny bit of make up, puts on pretty shoes and gets a perfect blow-out (like the thought never occured to her in the past, despite being bullied for so long) and suddenly they ENTIRE SCHOOL is calling her a Goddess and her attitude changes immediately. Okay, she's still timid, but she literally just went through hell and back at her old school, yet she's all sunshine and rainbows. Now everyone is gonna come at me being 'oh but it's a romcom, what do you expect?!' What I expect is a bit more substance and thought behind the drama, the transformation, her character... And all in all, the show still tells you, you need to be pretty to be successful and accepted. Not a very good message. Dropped again, unfortunately.

IKR? Second lead's romance was unbelievable at best, and SML a selfish prick until the end. The way he treated his brother was terrible and he never apologized. Just shows that he didn't grow up one bit from being a cyber bully. I was disappointed by those events.

While it was supposed to be comedy, the way he treated his secretary wasn't nice for one. He repeatedly overlooked his wishes to be transferred to a different department and acted like an obedient dog to his mother. Writing hate comments was bad enough, but at least he seemed to have sincerely repented and become a much better person, and I grew to like him more as a character. But then he flips his sh*t after finding out about ML's identity, going COMPLETELY nuts, doing a 180, even though he treated Ji Uk like a friend and brother before. And then he dares to threaten Ji Uk to ruin his family and pay him back for 'all the anguish and pain he and his mother had to go through.' Excuse me, you piece of sh*t, how is ANY of that Ji Uk's fault? How about you grow the f* up and stand up to your father instead of taking it out on someone who grew up unloved and as if he didn't exist in the first place when he did NOTHING wrong?!! To top if off, he gets Ji Uk's wife demoted at work, even though she had been a loyal and extremely capable employee the entire time. As the story unfolds, they just keep going with her project idea, which she has been removed from, and the president has the gall to keep chasing around FL's best friend/sister to date her. WTF? The final two episodes are just such a huge disappointment. SML never even APOLOGIZED ONCE for how he treated ML and FL, let alone take back the demotion at work or telling Ji Uk to come back. The closest he comes to acknowledging the fact is when Ji Uk leaves at the airport, and he's like.: 'why are you even leaving?'. And Ji Uk (rightfully so) says: Because you threatened me to leave the country. SML's like: Uh, so much has happened since, I thought we had come to an unspoken agreement. WTF mate? THAT's your apology after ruining your brother's life? Gosh, seriously, writers did a piss-poor job at tying up those lose ends, with the 'scary' father no less. Cannot take it seriously, and the reason why I cannot be happy for second couple ending up together. Ok, rant over....

Shin Min-Ah is romcom queen for a reason, and here again, the chemistry is just amazing. While not on par with Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha or Oh My Venus, it was still a super funny show with great characters. Just lost some steam in the final 4 episodes or so. I seem to be in the minority, but personally I really disliked SML. I loved the actor in HTCCC, so I had high hopes for this. Ja Yeon is such a sweet and innocent soul, but SML was a selfish prick. More under a spoiler tag. I may rewatch when in the mood for something funny, but will probably skip second couple’s bits. Ending was lackluster. 8/10.

I am glad it resonates with you and hope you will come to love it as much as I do! I am actually also eagerly awaiting the perfect time for another rewatch. :)

I wanted to watch a light romance with some healing aspects, and I really enjoyed the first couple of episodes. The humor was there, but also some deeper meaning, some banter and overall it was interesting enough, despite some very cliché moments. But from episode 6ish, it becomes extremely bland, over the top cheesy and with a messy dark side-plot. I've lost any desire to continue. Chemistry was also sort of meh. I might drop at episode 9. For now rated 6.5/10

For some people, pride is everything. To her, originally it was more painful to admit being taken advantage of and having been betrayed and be treated with pity, than to make herself into a crazy b*tch in peoples' eyes. I agree that they took it a bit far, but I can understand the sentiment. I see a similarity to Another Miss Oh (one of my absolute fav shows) and Love Next Door, but I think it was handled a bit better there...

hmm, not exactly like this, but if you like strong FLs then watch WWW. I also recommend Love To Hate You. The Judge from Hell.

She is just pretending to not care. We see that later on in flashbacks.

People constantly gossip about them being a couple and they sometimes even say they are, but they actually don't really get together until the end. But don't let that discourage you, there's co-habitation, a lot of trust from both sides, jealousy and swooning kisses. They have great chemistry, they're just both sort of... in denial lol

I am glad if my comments/observations can be helpful to some, and as I said, it's not even like I don't like the show or I'll stop watching. I just feel a bit frustrated at times, because I've been noticing a big drop in quality over the recent years compared to older shows when I started watching 10 years ago. That's not to say there are no great shows anymore, there are exceptions. And then again, I work in the entertainment industry, so I guess part of it is sort of an 'occupational disease' which leads to me being overly critical lol

It is absolutely worth watching, but the 'getting together' question is difficult. We get a kiss pretty early on in the show but feelings develop later on, and even then it's ambiguous. Just watch it, you won't regret it if you like that kind of story.

I rarely say that something is underrated, but this is one of these cases, I don't get the bad reviews and comments at all. Since it aired I already watched it three times (it's a short drama after all because the episodes are only 24 minutes long). It may not be perfect (the ending was rushed and not believable for some of the 'bad' people), a little bit all over the place, but it never got boring, and that's rare! There were a lot of unexpected twists (although some were messy), and it was a good mix of romance, comedy and thriller. I even really enjoyed the branding/work aspect and learned some new things! And Oh my, I think this is somewhere in the top 5 of deep kissing scenes, pheww. I also loved the supporting basement trio and that the dynamics kept changing because of the body swaps. even after two rewatches a 9/10 for me!

I agree with you, I watch dramas according to the mood I'm in as well. I also never said I want to stop watching it. But MDL is still primarily a discussion site, and the comment section helps users to decide whether to watch something or not, if it matches their mood. Of course you can watch one episode and then decide if it's for you or not, but starting to watch half a dozen shows before finding one you click with is not really practical, is it? So when I say "I enjoy this show (aka I like it), but personally I find it somewhat shallow", people that would look for a show with more depth, drama or just meaning, might look elsewhere (for now). So I don't get why people have to jump in and give their two cents about why it is supposed to be like that or how I should stop complaining. All I'm saying is: This show is cute. But it's not deep. It has its shortcomings.

Ikr? Well, sometimes she does adapt certain elements to the times, like when she makes the Schnitzel and there's no bread crumbs she makes crumbs from frying dough.... But the macarons f.e. is a different story, I worked at a café for some time baking pastries, and it's so difficult to get right, the oven has to have the exact specific temperature, humidity must be right, the egg-whites cannot be underbeaten or overmixed, and most importantly, you need really, really fine almond meal and powdered sugar to make it. But when they visit the greenery, and she sees the almond tree (magically with blossoms and ONE fruit at the same time, it turns out that koreans at that time didn't know you could eat almonds. So where did she suddenly produce the almond-(meal) from (they cannot be used fresh from the tree obviously)? You do NOT EVER use butter in the shells of macarons (she lists that as an ingredient), only for the buttercream filling Besides, the macarons looked too perfect to be made in a cauldron of all things which would be too humid and difficult to get the temperature right. Even though similar cookies to macarons existed already centuries ago made with simple equipment, they looked much different from today. I get that I'm nitpicking, but I do think a cooking show should at least get the basics right, even if it's fantasy. Oh well, it did inspire me to make some macarons again this weekend, it's been a while :)

I agree it's one of my favorite romcoms, I've watched it about 5 times since it aired. Jun Ho is an excellent actor in my opinion, was even back then. He expresses so much just with his eyes. What drew me in to this show was all the characters, in a lot of dramas it gets annoying with too many side-kicks, but it worked so well here and I have so much love for them all. It's just a well written and nicely balanced drama imo.

"It's supposed to be light with very little depth" is downplaying a lot of good shows, you know. Just because something is a romcom doesn't mean it cannot have depth. There are plently of romcoms that are short that have excellent buildup, character development, plot and are still light and fun. Take 'Love to Hate You' for example. It's even shorter than this show but I thought it was very well written and directed, all the characters were intriguing. I already watched it 3 times. As I said, I am able to overlook some of the shortcomings because I KNOW it's a comedy show, yet others are just important to me personally (! and you're welcome to disagree) in a show.

BTW, probably you have not watched Wok of Love if you claim it is drastically different length. WOL has 38 episodes but that was the time when suddenly episodes were split in half, so it actually has 18 episodes 65 minutes each, while BAYM has 12 episodes but they're 80 minutes each, which makes it about the same runtime in total, with WOL having at most two hours more.

I agree that he'll join her after the exile (similar to Queen in Hyun's Man, best timetravel drama besides mr queen and Moon Lovers btw), he'd be a Food Critic!

That's my go-to as well, he'd be a brilliant Michelin Star Food Critic or whatever they're called haha
