Back then when I watched this drama in 2011, I really thought this drama was amazing like I was addicted to it…
I am also rewatching some oldies, Like Love from another Star, Healer etc. and I feel the same way haha I mean, back then they were just so amazing, and in some ways I think they're still well made, but other aspects are just so outdated and somewhat ridiculous. Especially Healer is just such a romance drag which makes absolutely no sense, considering she has a huge crush on someone she doesn't even know the face of, or has talked to, she only knows rumors of him lol In that regard City Hunter is still better, but there are definitely some cringe moments as well... I actually want to rewatch it (watched it five or six years ago again after a long time...) But I cannot find it on any streaming sites. Where did you watch it? You can drop me private message if it's a gray zone... Thank you!
It just has multiple names (could have something to do with the translation of the Korean name to English?) in…
Yeah, it's confusing, but the original Korean title at the time of release was 너를 기억해, which translates to 'I Remember You'. It's a shame they changed that to Hello Monster on some streaming platforms.
Just came here to say I miss the previous English (and Korean original title). "I Remember You" hits so much deeper than that nonsense cutesy Hello Monster, once you realize its connection to the story. Somewhat old but oh so good, I have to rewatch it sometime.
I personally love historical romancesI have watched: Mr.queenMy dearestNobleman Ryu's WeddingThe forbidden marriageThe…
I'll recommend two time-travel dramas, because even though they're partly set in the modern world, they're just so good, and the historical aspect does play a big role (not just flashbacks). 1. Queen in Hyun's man (an oldie, but oh the chemistry and we get swooning kisses!), 2. Live up to your name (ML is not a typical dreamboat but he is so sweet and funny and actually gets a makeover in the second half of the show...), 3. Moon Lovers, just prepare tissues... Knight Flower was also decent from what I remember.
Omg, what a trainwreck of a final episode. I loved the first half of the show, the middle part was still pretty ok, but what was with that ending?! I'm like wtf? None of it made ANY sense. Was ML shot or not? How did the pycho die, they only showed him getting handcuffed, but there was only mention of him getting shot, too. Instead of cooking up that INSANELY RIDICULOUS Argan plot, they should've focused on a decent showdown and tying up all lose ends, not just by shoving it on the news and leaving us with more questions than before. When they reunite he's like: "wtf are you doing here, I told you to wait until I come find you!" uhhhh..... WHEN exactly did he tell her that that she obv doesn't remember? WHY would he feel guilty for her brother's death when it wasn't his fault and he had been suffering his entire life from that family and finally wanted to live happily with his wife? She's okay with it, so why cannot he? The entire character growth over the 12 episodes was cast out the window in a flash, and obv his wife would be left behind devastated without any kind of explanation of reasoning on his part. omg I am actually so mad at this ending, it could have been a great show but this just ruined it beyond hope. They kiss and make love in the middle of a rebellion led 'war zone' (and lets not get into how he suddenly went from newscaster to like secret service agent style DOTS....). Literally, all I have to say is *facepalm*. I still give it an 8 overall, but I rate the final episode a 2....
This drama had such a nice built up and storyline and then it just went off the rails. Honestly, it left me more…
omg I agree a hundred percent. The writing was so all over the place, the whole feud between the two families and then the final episode. I was waiting for it all to make sense, but it never did and the 'revelation' was so: wtf? Well, one thing we know was that only I-Na and the young boy were chairman hong's bio children, so it was sort of expected of Hee Yoo that she'd be the stand-in for I-Na because she was 'worth less'. So she was sort of the scapegoat to assure both families wealth and status, but as you said, Chairman Hong chose prestige over justice for his son and his entire family, and he never really showed remorse for sending off Hee Yoo, while in the end acting all happy for her. Idk, there's so much wrong with all these motives. First half of the show was awesome, too bad it just tried to be too much at once...
I haven't seen the chinese version, so this is just based on this adaption. I think it's a fun and light family drama that drifts into melo on occasion. The first half is void of romance, but changes direction after the time skip. Luckily no love triangle. That said, I think the relationship between the two dads and three kids is really heartwarming and beautiful and a nice change from many dramas where the moms are angels and dads are often painted as the suffocating or abusive kind. While they all have their circumstances, the moms here (especially San Ha's, she can just go to ****) are a disappointment, and the one beef I have with this drama, is that the bottom line is still: as a child you return to your roots and follow the obligation you have to your parents, no matter how they treated you. While everything is well in the end, it doesn't make 10 (or rather 20) years of suffering go away, and forgiveness came way too easily to those who didn't even deserve it or showed no remorse. I know it was important for the timeskip and romance to blossom, but overall I was underwhelmed with the second part of the story, and I'm usually a romance gal. In any case, it's a good watch to pass the time, but I am not sure I'll rewatch and it's a bit overrated in my opinion. overall more of a 7, but I give it 8.0/10 for the beautiful family relations and strong friendship bond between the kids and some fun comedy.
I agree about the FL, I never thought that her actions were stupid, she just went with it because she really liked…
Agreed 100%, the more often I watched the show, the more I learned to appreciate the storytelling, atmosphere and directing. I also watched some behind the scenes footage on YT, there was a lot of input from the director and the actors to convey the ambiguous feelings just the right way.
Tried watching this cause I needed more of Yoo Yeon Seok waiting for drama updates. I watched the first episode but thought it was sort of boring. I usually like slice of life and slow shows, but somehow there was no hook. End of ep 1 also tells me I'd be in for a lot of heartbreak if I watch it. Idk, maybe I'll give it another go one day but for now it goes on hold.
There's no point in arguing with 'yuta'. So much generalization and prejudice should just be disregarded, it's just nonsense anyway and she/he will just continue to pick a fight without reason. I used to read and watch a lot of BL in my younger days, as did some of my friends. And guess what? We all have close gay and lesbian and even trans friends, we vote for liberal parties and support minority groups and we certainly don't judge other people for a single line comment that's not offensive in any way. So if you want to spread negativity, do it elsewhere.
I don’t understand why people are hating on this drama or the actors good Lord lol (separate actor and character…
Well said, and I watched it four times over the past three years, and I have come to the conclusion that Jae On never lied to her when she asked if he is seeing someone else (because while he's a playboy in the beginning, he doesn't make a secret out of it, and they also never promised to be in a relationship, so he has no reason to lie to her. Besides, it's against his character), and possibly didn't even see anyone else in the entire time he was involved with Nabi (after that first kiss/sex). We are led to believe that he's insincere and he would "cheat" (because that's what Nabi and everyone else expects) but the two times it is implied (Seol Ah and that older woman whose brother punches him), it turns out to be not true. And again, they are not in an established relationship anyway. I think that's why Sol is such an important 'witness' to the relationship. Contrary to everyone else, she's very supportive and tells Na Bi that she thinks Jae On is much better than her ex and they make a cute couple. Why? Because she's the only one who doesn't care for gossip, so she only reacts to what she sees, and Jae On is actually pretty sweet to Na Bi (especially considering they're not even dating). I think the biggest issue here is lack of communication and lack of trust. Had Jae On communicated better and had Na Bi not doubted him from all the gossip (and lies from his ex) they could've evolved as a couple in a much healthier and better way. But well, both of them were immature, and I suppose that's also a point of the show. Regardless, I love the drama for many reasons, despite its shortcomings and will always come back to rewatch.
Finally watched this drama out of curiosity and its really not as scandelous as i expected. Its actually quite…
I agree about the FL, I never thought that her actions were stupid, she just went with it because she really liked him/felt attraction, even though she knew she might end up hurt. However, I disagree about ML being unrealistic, and here's why: I watched it several times, first time when it came out, and I finished rewatching yesterday for the third time. The more often I watched, the more I ACTUALLY paid attention to Jae On and how he interacted with Nabi. Yes, he's immature, and yes, he was originally an extreme playboy. However, he never pretended otherwise, and other than that he is a consistently nice and attentive guy to people around him. And after starting this fling with Nabi, although he didn't want to put a label on it, (possibly because he didn't even know HOW to be in a relationship), he basically acted like a boyfriend and we never saw him be intimate with other girls, or even show interest. Even when Nabi ended it because she misunderstood about him and Seol Ah/the older woman, he didn't revert back to his old self because he genuinely cared for her. Yes, he could have been more outspoken about it, but it's actually Nabi herself who made a lot of rules in the relationship in the first place. She decided to be friends with benefits but did not want anyone at school to know. She ended it from her end, because she couldn't believe him even when he said he wasn't seeing anyone else (as watchers we learn that he didn't have anything going on with either Seol Ah, nor the girl whose crazy brother beats him up). I mean, she also meets up with a guy who obviously likes her (even confesses to her). Her communication was just as bad as his. I am not blaming her, knowing of his reputation of course she was just trying to protect herself, but in all honesty: he was actually pretty decent to her, and he never lied. It was her choice not to believe his words and his feelings. So, what I'm saying is, I am sure there's plenty of asshole playboys who sleep with whomever, but Jae On was genuine about liking her and wanting to change from early on, so it's not a 180 degree turn like a lot of people say it is.
