i feel like i finally got over any residual weirdness after watching episode 0 lol. the new actors really embody their characters well imo, which really helped me move on from imagining sb5 + godt everytime i thought about the characters lol

i don’t remember much, but i think tutor (saint) and fighter (zee) are “enemies” but fighter is dating tutor’s best friend hwa hwa. hwa hwa pushes them to be closer and tutor ends up tutoring (ha!) fighter. there’s a bit of love triangle between the three of them.

i dont too much remember the story of the second couple. but i think lazy subber posted a summary and like a relationship map of all the couples on fb a couples months ago

she bangs! this version looks like it’s going to be really good. i’m pumped.

i hope that’s true!! that means this version will be faster paced, which, personally, i like. the og version was too slow for my tastes

far as i’m concerned that’s the exact same thing as pushing it back, since the release date for episode 1 was originally june 22nd and now it’s june 29th and since at the end of the day, this “behind the scenes” isn’t part of the story/show. it’s more like an extension of the trailer or teasers

literally the only reason i wanna see this show is for mingkit (and maybe forthbeam). phayo’s storyline is boring and weird and i’m not sure what the director or the actors could do to fix that tbh.

i disagree with your disagreement (lol). i think colour is a larger factor than whether they’re mixed or not. being mixed is just a means to objective, the objective being that they are pale with eurocentric features.

when i said european mixed asians and other lighter skin asians make up the minority of the population, i meant pale like saint from lbc.

and i agree with your last point. ohm doesn’t look arab* (arabic is a language not a person). and the role called for a darker skinned person. it was insensitive and hypocritical to cast ohm for that role when he doesn’t fit, especially, as i said earlier, after all that fuss he made about mean not fitting the character. (don’t get me wrong. mean doesn’t fit the character, but neither does ohm)

it’s colourism not racism. they’re all asian (or mixed asian). there’s no racial discrimination. there is colour discrimination at play here.

that said. finding a half arab thai person, would be nearly impossible, but finding a dark skin actor?? he could have done that easily , especially after all the fuss they made about not casting MeanPlan because they’re light skin and don’t fit the roles lol. (like the hypocrisy? lol)

unfortunately, thai media as well basically every other media in the world, favours lighter skin. it’s the result of colonialism and western influence.

it’s not right, and it’s sad that even tho european mixed thais and other lighter skin thai people make up a minority of the population, they make up a majority of the media representation. it’s sad that darker skinned actors, especially women, are often passed over regardless of their talent bcs of their skin or are given stereotypical sidekick roles. it’s sad that when a leading role finally calls for a darker skin person, it’s given to someone lighter yet again.

but! boycotting would be pointless. 1) as international fans our opinions and views aren’t much of a concern 2) unless you make the reason for your protest known to Khun New, he’ll have no idea why the ratings are lower, even if you manage to make a dent in those ratings, and 3) this is a systematic issue in not only thailand but many other countries. boycotting one little bl series that ultimately doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of things, won’t make a difference.

for changes to be made, it’s gonna take decades if not centuries of unlearning that goes beyond New and his series.

it’s actually really strange that they promote them so much as the second couple when they get so little screen time or development. they might as well have promoted hong ye and daoyi as the second couple, i’d be way less salty bcs then i wouldn’t expect much.

if they do that i will personally fly to taiwan and throw some hands don’t worry •_•

there’s nothing wrong with only liking fluffy romances, some people aren’t into action or angst, and that’s fine.

but! gay relationships deserve a variety of portrayals, the same way straight relationships are found in action, thrillers, sci fi and all sorts of genres.

its’s not fair that our stories are limited to: everyone dies and has HIV or it’s fluffy fluffy land where everyone and their pet is gay. so when a show (History 3: trapped) attempts to break that mould by bringing in a main plot that has action and suspense, you don’t have to watch it if that’s not what interests you (the same way i stay clear of sci fi because it doesn’t interest me), but you also shouldn’t bash it for those reasons, because ultimately, you’re directly contributing to our lack of representation since directors and writers are going to stop taking chances to avoid that unfair criticism. meaning once again, our stories will be pigeon holed into those same 2 portrayals.

i definitely think there’s room for improvement, there always is, but i had no idea there was this much backlash? i mean i have a bit of a short attention span myself, so i always want things to be more *intense* to hold my interest lol, whether that’s the action or the romance, and sometimes this show can be a bit mild, but other than that, they’ve done a good job. what’s there to be upset about???

i agree with you to an extent. i don’t think it’s really in his character to beat guys up who are pretty much defenceless (or turn a blind eye to murder), even considering what happened, but i was shocked that he didn’t have more visible outrage. maybe yelling at ah de or like getting all up in his personal space in a threatening way etc. i mean everyone handles these things differently and shows their emotions differently, but i wont lie, i did expect more than what was given.

they better dedicated at least 3 full episodes to jack and zhaozi for robbing us this week tbh
