In the beginning, Zhenxi Army was nothing more than a local garrison stationed to patrol the border at Laolan pass. He didn't become a Marshal until Sun Jing's rebellion and the only city he was able to conquer without the help of the FL's army was Wangzhou.
Considering the fact that she helps him stage the sham battle for General Fu and also attack Luoyang, I think it's crystal clear that they're allies at this point,not enemies therefore they struck a deal. He allows her to pass through Wangzhou to defend Yingzhou and she helps him attack Xichang to save his father. So tell me, how does that make him her lapdog?

He definitely did the right thing by not usurping his cousin; that's a decision that's largely based on morality not necessarily emotion. However, the sad truth is that his desire to save the old couple would have definitely gotten him killed if Cui Lin did not intervene. Maybe his character development has to do with not letting his emotions get the best of him.

True, besides Zhenxi army has control over Wangzhou and Bingzhou. Giving the Cui Army control over Jiankou was the least they could do after the help they received from them. But they acted ungratefully and wanted to take it all. I don't blame Cui Lin for stealing the tiger tally
We might not like the fact that Cui Lin took advantage of Li Ni's feelings and gains concessions by stealing from him but the truth is that their country is at war and both leads are part of rival clans fighting for dominance in order to secure the throne or control over who sits on it. People don't win wars by acting honourably, they deceive, lie, cheat and spy on each other to win. Cui Lin is acting very realistically for a general who is at war and Li Ni is acting rather foolish by allowing his feelings (for someone who was his enemy not so long ago btw) to cloud his judgment.
This drama is my most anticipated drama this year but right now I'm so torn between watching it as it airs or binge-watching after its done because I usually find it difficult to complete on going dramas. Any advice?

Something good the screenwriters and director did was dropping hints and clues that the FL could be dreaming throughout the series. This helps to ease the audience into the idea of it so that if or when it finally turns out to be true, it doesn't feel like a cheap plot twist that drops out of nowhere. This would be a good example of foreshadowing done right and shows that they respect their audience. A lot of screenwriters like to do plot twists that come out of left field and shock the audience but the best ones usually place Chekhov's guns (here it's the fact that the FL keeps smelling incense for no reason) that would go off later in the story so that the plot twist doesn't seem like an ass pull

Yes, ZYL strikes me as a rather possessive man. He was so quick to claim MY as his woman in public when someone asked for her hand so I can only imagine what would happen when he finds out about HQ and ZXW.
He'll also probably think HQ wanted a divorce so much because she wasn't satisfied with just being his wife and tried to seduce ZXW (like she seduced him) to gain a higher status and would definitely try to punish her even more by refusing to divorce her and making her more miserable

I think he said it because he believes MY deserves to be more than a mere concubine and wanted to wait until her investigation was over so he could marry her as a proper wife. He did tell her he was going to divorce HQ when the investigation was done.
