Wow, what a weekend it's been. Juicy stuff, and Im Soo-hyang's acting is out of this world, utterly brilliant. This drama's really packing a punch. My head's still spinning.
I have an unpopular opinion. She gives me the impression of a bargain actor, a bit cheaper to hire.Netflix studios…
In my perception those were formulaic and artificial works - where the brief came before the idea. I said it was an unpopular opinion. Netflix, as an outsider, is cultivating talent from outside the mainstream and using its influence to inject them here and there in mainstream projects to inflate their profiles. Just my opinion. You can ignore me.
I wondered if Exhuma was political tbh. There seems to be two polarised views in SK on either side of the middle ground... pro Japan, anti North Korea... Or pro-reunification, anti-Japan. Maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there in the odd dramas and films
Amazon Prime show Upload is on similar lines. If we were the ones left behind, would we buy into a fake version of our deceased loved ones? Probably not, but I believe it's possible to use the emotions to make a moving movie and turn it into something positive, the only red flag is that this film's been in the can for years. Also I'm not a fan of anthologies, which this appears to be.
Wow 4th upcoming drama, she is BUSY BUSY!Well good for her! Her cv still had so few projects before, now she'll…
I have an unpopular opinion. She gives me the impression of a bargain actor, a bit cheaper to hire. Netflix studios has a handful of these on their books. Netflix uses its power to help put such actors into other reputable productions, which increases their perceived market value. Then when they use them, we believe it's a 'great cast'.
Although it's not clear, the 'Netflix' actors (not in the old fashioned Hollywood studio sense, but something similar) are appearing in shows that would probably cast otherwise.
She can act well. To me, I classify the group as good, accomplished actors, best suited to supporting roles, that don't stand out from the crowd and don't create the excitement that the true big shots achieve.
Just speak for yourself. You don’t know what the whole world or Koreans were watching.
Agree. QoT builds on CLOY. tvN probably gained subscribers after CLOY. And what was on the other channels this time, did they even bother to compete or just threw in the towel and played re-runs. Many factors. Records set the new standard and records get broken.
It's the same writer. Don't watch it then start bitching about it.
I must have suddenly got annoyed by the know-it-all narcissistic posts littering the comments. The two dramas are similar in structure and style. They're about family, friendship and life with a little bit of adventure thrown in. Uprooting the rich into a whole new world, a heinous villain, heroism, romanticism, etc. Mian.
That's just not true. Hallyu has been going for over 20 years and it's been popular domestically and in certain countries for over 20 years. You may have started watching with CLoY, what makes you assume you're representative? You use the words "the whole world" as a substitute for "I".
It's stating that for channel tvN, Queen of Tears is now the drama with the highest live viewership in South Korea. Prior to that the record was held by Crash Landing on You. It's pretty fucking simple.

Mian.
Mian.
Yes, it's a weird top 15.
