This is definitely me as well. I'm happily eating all the stuffs this drama is throwing at me. I needed a break from all those usual fluffs. lol

Happened to binge ep 16, 17, 18, 19 today. My gosh I'm glad I couldn't watched them the past few days, and instead binged them. I wouldn't have survived the daily waiting for these developments.

I like the darker vibe of the story. I needed a break from the usual rainbows and unicorns we usually get, and this is definitely it.

Can't wait anymore so went and read the novel. Such a good read and I was hooked from the get go. Not a single boring moment either.

Don't think much of the mature stuffs from the novel will make it to the drama though. Just hope Wei Shao wasn't excessively toned down. I'll watch it for the slow burn regardless however 😆

fr... our dude's first response whenever he sees someone outdoor is to drape his expensive fur cloak on that person. I'm pretty sure Zhuang Hanyan alone at least got like 3 cloaks sitting in her closet by now.

She can take them back as her dowry, so it works out I guess.

Yes, whenever the 1ep/day schedule starts. ugh... 😖

I watched till ep4 on the day it aired. I was still on the fence until then because of the pacing (it felt way too fast).

Now that I came back, binged, and caught up to ep14, it felt much much better after the initial episodes, and kept me on the hook with something to look forward to for the next episodes. Gonna follow this daily now.

Not sure about the FL here, but my skinny sister sure lifted a 20 ft ladder by herself and ran during her adrenaline rush while the house was on fire. xD

As much bloody, and FL here is borderline psychopath. Not afraid to kill, and not afraid to die.

Finished reading the novel. I kinda share your sentiment about 'leave this novel alone', for the reasons you stated as well as the amount of craps Lu Tong will receive from some viewers for her decisions around ML, as well as the possibility of insufficient portrayal of her excessive drive for revenge by the script.

The source material was entirely told from Yifan's perspective. If we gonna label drama Sang Yan a supporting character, novel Sang Yan would be even worse. We actually got more Sang Yan in the drama compared to the novel.

The only complaint I have is they could have replaced some parts with more SangYifan. I would totally take it. lol

That was my initial impression as well. Keep watching. FL is very strong in her own ways. And, there are lots of swoon worthy moments, it's not just doom and gloom. It's pretty balanced.

Agreed. The general consensus as far as I've seen around also is that there are some parts people didn't like, but liked the drama as overall because the main story's delivery and ending left a very strong positive impression by the end, tugging at people's heartstrings dearly.

There are some parts I didn't like as well, but gave it a 10 regardless because of other good things and how this drama connected with me from start to finish. (Also, viewer ratings tend to be based on how much they enjoyed rather than objectivity to begin with.)

Since the drama started airing basically. Some don't even watch the drama, rated it 1.0, and ride the wave whenever an opportunity shows up.

I'm at around Ch70 and our girl is crazy crazy crazy. lol

Thought Shen Maio was ruthless enough, but no, add craziness on top of it for Lu Tong. Can't wait to finish the novel, and fingers crossed we won't have to wait like a decade for the drama as well.

Update: Finished reading the novel. FL here gotta be the most unhinged FL out of all Qian Shan Cha Ke novels, and I love her for that. lol Overall, the story is very nice and enjoyable. Just hope much of the aspects that make this story unique will make it through the censorship...

I just project the actors we've seen on screen onto my mental image of the characters in the novel. Works well enough for me usually, and even better in TFF's case because BJT and ZRN did such an amazing job with their roles.

I switched to novels for the time being because other dramas are not doing it for me at the moment. haha

To each their own, people's preferences are different after all. That's totally fine.

I also didn't enjoy some of the dramas others enjoyed a lot, for example The Double. But I would't label it as overrated though, because it is genuinely a good drama and its target audience enjoyed it. It was just not for me.
