Has Leo Wu previously played a complicated character similar like Ling Buyi in other dramas?
I don't know, but I noticed that in this drama Leo Wu played a character that is more controversial and complicated than he had ever played before (in terms of character complexity), just like this General Ling's stiffness personality. Where his character who is always full of suspicion, resourcefulness, bound by hatred for his family and country, someone who is alone, rigid, a character full of contradictions but full of tension. I'm not sure if it's cuz of the make-up effect or cuz of his excellent acting skills ~ I can even clearly see the coldness, seriousness, cunning, stubbornness, resentment, and bitterness of Ling Buyi's character engraved through Leo Wu's facial features. I even sometimes feel like this character as if has a hidden darkness.
The best part for me was when CSS gave a mathematical solution to the rhapsody which Yuan Shen read to her. "Then…
