Yes, I just saw the other rumored actress is in another drama that is soon to start. Still waiting for the official announcement but whatever role Ranzi plays, I’m excited. 🥹 If it is this show, then I’ve heard it’s an original script which is good for keeping viewer interest even if there’s a reduction in initial hype.

When I searched the show’s title, I saw different casting rumours. Some were old but these were new and were a believable combination of old casting rumours for the leads. It doesn’t seem like she would be a supporting role though. There’s two other major female character according to the poster but one is aged 45 which seems too high for her to play unless they do a lot of heavy makeup. It would have to be the 24 year old role but there’s not much on it.
Because Su Changhe is 4th billing. The billing order is the order that the actor’s names appear on official announcements or publicity for the drama-not the characters. It can be based on multiple factors, not just screen time or the book’s arrangements. For the drama, this is the order followed in China and most official sites. Even if Mu Yumo wasn’t 2nd billing, Su Changhe would not be 2nd billing because he would still be after Su Zhe’s actor.

Yeah, it all feels a bit weird. Everything about the character she plays sounds perfectly tailored for her…Like why be so secretive about Xiao Ran unless the producers really wanted her and were worried it would be snatched? And the guy… it’s really strange that non-fans are pulling him down. If fans aren’t being negative, why should they care? It’s like they are deliberately trying to create anxiety.

Yeah, I doubt it’s the first one. It’s been chasing her for years. I figure if she liked it, she would have accepted it. Similar to that Spring Flowers drama that she didn’t accept. The second one seems more credible but its connections to Huanrui make me super wary of it. It feels like it might be taking advantage of the secrecy. It’s gone through a few different leads too and her cakes generally don’t do that.
Hello guys how are you doing? Do Chinese directors read comments on MDL?
The directors probably don’t but sometimes marketing accounts reference it to show that a star is popular overseas. It doesn’t hold much weight though. That said I do think that fanbases know we exist to some extent and maybe the platforms too. I’ve seen accounts repeat verbatim the same rhetoric as what’s on Weibo and seen some accounts that seem like they are information gathering.
I heard what frustrated viewers were because a misunderstanding was drug out until it was too late . Communication…
This was the core flaw in the book too but they eventually come to an accord and work things out. The show doesn’t do this though. The second half of the drama should be them re-building their relationship but the focus shifts away from it.
ml is too calculative...i dont mind his calculation but as a love interest of fl it is kind of scary.....fl is…
The FL is young and still protected by her family so her “stage” is small. She’s clearly clever, calculating, and resourceful though. If this story cares about the FL as a character, then she will evolve as she gets more and more entangled with the ML world.
the thing is though, EG never said this was going to be a dragon's focus story! He only said VOS's focus is LOVE…
It’s probably because of the concept of “only a dragon can kill a dragon”. It sets up expectations of a big role because as the only dragon left, WSG is positioned as a chosen one and these type of characters usually become the focus of the story. It’s a bit like if the Harry Potter series suddenly started to put most of its focus on Ron halfway through the books after suggesting Harry was the chosen one in the first few books. The splitting of powers after every demon’s death was probably a way to deal with the situation and leave room for the two characters but it actually created the opposite effect because WSG gets an underdog buff and then everyone assumed Ji Ling would power down but he doesn’t. Ji Ling should have an underdog buff as well but it comes too late and has less effect because it’s mostly through telling and flashbacks, which are not as powerful. It also doesn’t help that a lot of WSG’s development is told in a really straightforward and sometimes very plain way whereas Ji Ling is the opposite. This goes against audience expectations (which is not a bad thing but can lead to criticism if the execution is off ). I think for it to work, they would have to feel like they’re both roughly on the same level power wise at the start and the levelling up needs to be shown with the same weight for both characters.
I want to watch this drama to understand how frustrated you're by this drama 🤣🤣🤣
It’s because it’s a romance that isn’t very romantic from either side’s perspective. Neither leads have the relationship they want. The ML doesn’t get the affection he wants and the FL doesn’t get the truth and transparency she wants. Because of this it’s either suffocating, toxic, or frustrating for half the show (which many romance viewers don’t seem to care for). And when it finally resolves and the audience thinks they’ll get a reward for wading through the chaos, the narrative veers completely off course. I’ve watched the show twice and I’m still amazed at how neither the screenwriter nor director/producer didn’t spot such a major problem.
