I became a fan of Xu Kai's fairly recently, and occasionally I see something about his "bad boy" phase. Besides smoking, what were his other bad-boy activities? I'm not looking for rumor and assumptions, but documented behavior.

It's been reported that Xu Kai has been replaced in the upcoming drama, Ting Feng Ling. Xu Kai was cast as the sole ML. Later, it was changed to two MLs. XK fans were livid and protested loudly on the socials.
There was a lot of controversy as to how the situation was handled.
Perhaps someone used this as an opportunity to prevent further negative comments by Xu Kai's fans once production began and took him out.
