I enjoyed this drama and will rewatch parts of it again.

That said, there was an overabundance of Mei Si-Snake Lord scenes. It felt like they overshadowed what was supposed to be the main couple. Throw in the Black Snake and they basically took over the drama.

The final episodes handwaved the most important parts of the supposed main plot, beginning with Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen's visit to Changxi Palace.

They did stick the landing.

He fell for her the first moment he saw her.

There were a few cute but dumb men as well.

Actually, I believe he was reborn or kept alive thanks to the demon plant his father had cultivated. They showed it turning purple.

My guess is some scenes were cut that could have provided clarity to Mei Zhuyu's survival.

It's driving me crazy that people have latched onto that word.
