I won't damn the entire drama by labeling it a disappointment. The real disappointment was the virtual disappearance Xu Kai and the pushing forward of other actors.

I enjoyed the overall story and Tian Xiwei's performance. I would have liked some of the other characters more if they weren't constantly on screen. We got such a deep dive into Snake Lord's adult life, plus she could appear in both the human and demon worlds. On the other hand, we saw little of adult Mei Zhuyu in flashbacks.

But every moment with Mei Zhuyu was a delight to be savored. Maybe it's due to the insufficient screentime, but he's become my favorite Xu Kai character whom I revisit time and again.
