I agree. being a totally nice, righteous & perfect is the type of roles Yang Yang has played, making him play a cunning role will be out of the image the media has created for him but still, I wish they made him play a cunnin HFX to show his versatility as an actor and to also follow the novel properly. i agree with the glorifying part. Yang yang is usually portrayed in perfect roles & they altered HFX's character in the drama to suit this. Whenever BFX mentioned HFX being cunning, I never actually saw it cuz they didn't portray HFX like how he was in the novel.
I loved the conflicted anti-hero HFX who was actually cunning & was the opposite of BFX. The drama made it seem like both HFX & BFX have similar thoughts & personalities. That's not it. Their characters are created to be opposite but are linked & destined to be together. HFX in the novel had more ambition & was torn between his love for BFX & his ambition to rule the world. My heart jumped when I read the part in the novel where HFX finally realized that nothing will mean anything to him if BFX isn't beside him. That scene was beautifully written.
I have huge respect and admiration for the author of the novel💗it would have been nice if the drama fully did justice to the novel and followed it instead of inserting new stories in the middle.

omg yesss!! sameeee. I'm a sucker for historical dramas & costumes. I have always wanted a eunuch or evil minister (i like how they don't have nominal power but control stuff) as the main lead cuz its mostly a prince or general. Hedi's character is my type of anti-hero & im falling hard💘

Wang Hedi's character here is absolute perfection. His cherries, head accessory band, black/ purple robes, his ring, his majestic sword, his powerful stare, and the way he sits ❤️🔥❤️🔥everything is so perfect and elegant. in the novel, BFX's background as the princess, her experience & bond with her generals/ soldiers were explored. To me, it was perfect. FLX's family or the palace politics was never majorly included in the novel unlike how the drama was. the novel didn't even mention the name of FLX's brothers.
tbh, I wish they brought all those BFX's novel parts in the drama. I really liked her trust & relationship with her generals after she was crowned and during wartime. In the drama, they make it look like only FLX/ HFX was backing up BFX. Although HFX is BFX's biggest support, BFX had other people who backed her up too. The novel's ending gave a hint that FLX was cured & they'll travel the world together, deep in love. For me, the drama's ending was a bit rushed. Either way, I think the novel is a masterpiece and the drama was great too!
I believe if there was no problem between the director/ producer/ queen's maid, during the production (big rumor) & one of the directors/producers didn't leave, I think the drama would have turned out even more perfectly. Instead of 40 eps, it could have been 56 with BFX's arc being explored too.
