It's not a rule anywhere but I guess Qin Shi's case is different. She deals with laws related to family affairs majority of which are based on couples. The job probably wants a woman who has a family of her own so that she can understand her clients better. This is the only justification I can give. I don't want companies to be like this though. The last chapter was about him making a movie about his parent's love story and they're no more irl. I don't get the novel's ending.
