Title The Princess Royal Spoiler
Although I squeaked when PWX returned, I really wanted to hear Li Rong give a fitting answer to that audacious SRQ. Girl didn't believe for a second that PWX died and was on the edge waiting for him. That anxiousness, those letters, really moved me to tears. They both need to communicate their love for each other. She clearly loved PWX all along. I just wanted her to spell it out loud to SRQ.

But you know what, I want her to admit and confess her feelings to PWX first. Her confession to him should be their intimate moment. Let that SRQ piss off, man.

SRQ is a eunuch. LI chuan had hin castrated iso of killing after LR pleads for him life
I know that. There were comments saying that even if he was castrated in his previous life, they could've been kissing, making out, and all that. Both the novel and the drama didn't imply such stuff. That is why I have mentioned that he was her companion in her leisure time and a confidant, not a sexual or romantic partner

To those judging Li Rong harshly after reading snippets of the novel, please consider only what is shown in the drama and not the novel's story. Many dramas loosely follow the novel but leave out many parts, making the drama better or worse. So, the novel's story is not entirely equal to the drama's plot.

In "Unchained Love," the ML and FL had amazing chemistry, and it was well-directed. In the novel, there was a scene where the ML raped the FL, which was changed in the drama. When it was airing, if we looked at Dylan Wang's character as the novel's ML, we would've despised him, but we understood that the drama was different in a few aspects, although they pretty much followed the novel.

In "Story of Kunning Palace," there were scenes towards the end where Xie Wei and Ning'er had to pretend to be a couple in front of the rebels. In the novel, he forced Ning'er to give him orals. It was disgusting, but guess what? The drama was different.

Novels usually have some heavy topics or crazy scenes to pull readers in, but drama adaptations make it more appropriate for the screen. When you watch the episodes here, it was clear that Li Rong treated SRQ as a companion and not a sexual or romantic one. Despite whatever was in the novel, PWX didn't make it clear that he doesn't love QZZ in the drama, even though Li Rong was in tears, confronting him. She felt betrayed, and they became an estranged couple. She spent years believing that, and PWX only recently cleared his side of misunderstandings. Give that poor woman some time to process; even PWX understands that. She's not perfect, and he's not perfect either. Let them be messy, figure things out, and make it work. It's bittersweet and realistic.

def A++ lister and has been since AOL ! currently holds the costume drama god title ! lol. He jsut had a concert…
He is definitely A-List for costume dramas but I wouldn't say he's S-List. S-List in the Chinese market is like Jackie Chan/ Gong Li/ Tang Wei/ Liu Yifei level, someone who has a legacy and is known by people around the world

I was lowkey mad at the director-producer and screenwriter crew for killing Ji-Ji duo off and giving a lowkey rushed ending but here's what they did right!!!

* Unlike the novel where there was a soul swapping, Xue Fangfei survived and took Jiang Li's identity instead and that was so much more realistic and thrilling to me. It was done right bc it kept me on the edge worried her identity would be exposed early on.

* Her faking her identity was an open secret among the villains but they couldn't do anything about it bc our leads outsmarted them each time. It made the game more interesting.

* She was not a virgin, and a teenager in mid teens again. Although her identity was changed, her past wasn't erased yet she still found a beautiful new life and reclaimed what she deserved. I found this realistic and hopeful. She also found a wonderful man who accepted all of her; her past, her present, and her future. They were walking green flags to each other.

* Slow-burn romance done right! I usually get annoyed and bored by slow-burn romances but they had some much tension and bickering that they had us in a chokehold throughout. Although it was a slow burn, whenever they met, they were intensely focused on each other and the wordplay was spectacular I could feel their chemistry even if he was just offering her tea and she was staring at him lol.

* The villains actually had depth and dimensions and were so complex. Their scenes till the end were done right. Each got what they deserved.

* Love how they made Shen Yurong the main villain at the last. Their face-off was everything.

* The initial intent of revenge wasn't forgotten and it just kept evolving for the better.

* The pacing was on spot. Plus, costumes and cinematography were good.

I could go on about more. This drama has one of the best storylines and I really appreciate the whole crew for their hard work and spectacular delivery!! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ‘

At last a drama where there is no face swapping! The FL possesses equal IQ as the ML, she is NOT a virgin and…
THIS! This is what I freaking loved about this drama in the start. In the novel, her soul swaps with Jiang Li so she's actually young, unmarried, and a virgin for the rest of the story (physically). But the drama made it so much better by making her swap identities, not bodies so it was literally a comeback and the best one imo. This made the drama more thrilling, realistic, and interesting at the start of the series.

When i rewatch, I stop at Episode 40 31:15 mark. That's the perfect ending. I just ignore the last ten minutes…
So real!! the mid of ep 40 felt so conclusive. ep 40 should've been the first half ep 40 and the special ep together. I really don't mind the war in the second half of the last ep but the Ji Ji duo dying was just rushed and unnecessary. We saw Tong'er being sent off by A'Li but the Ji Ji duo died and we only got to see Xiao Heng saying he'll take them home. No last words from them and no after-scenes where they're remembered. It's so sad and unfair

Idk what the director and the screenwriter were thinking but they clearly weren't thinking 🀨😭
