What I dislike is FL's lip tint. It is so old! I used to wear that lip tint more than 15 years ago! Lip tint + ombre = ouch 😑 The ML's matte lipstick was also hideous. Why not putting colorless lip balm? Were they deliberately trying to copy Wang Hedi's Dongfang Qingcang?

I watched quite a few of mini, and this one is one of the very few that i like. The chemistry is good, kissing is good, acting is good, it's just they pushed everything on the last 2 eps. It wouldn't hurt to add 2 more eps. The amnesia arc is annoying, but the emotional scenes are so good.
For me, Tu Zhiying is better in doing emotional acting rather than childish one. It would be nice if Tu Zhiying and Dai Gaozheng can reunite in another drama.
She owns a tea house, yet the shop is always empty. The only customer is the grand master (ML). Did he rent the whole shop a year so no customer can come? As the grand master he is so IDLE! His one and only job is coming to the tea house to flirt with FL.
The plot is just going back and forth: FL breaks up with him, says they are strangers, yet she always accommodates him, then she threatens him, stabs him, cares for him, accepts him back, stabs him again, loves him, says they are strangers again, welcomes him to her house for the Nth times, loves him again, and this cycle continues until the end. He comes to her house every day and she always welcomes him. Does she even know what "strangers" mean? What she does in the whole drama is "I'm angry at you, I'm being sulky, don't poke me or I'll bite, but don't ignore me as well."
Also the 2ML is a hostage prince from Nanlu kingdom, yet the emperor casually let him stays in the teahouse for months. The emperor is so chill!
As a general, FL is weak. She keeps getting rescued by ML and there is barely any fight scenes, just like other Hu Yiyao's mini.
I watched this for Xin Yunlai. Also, veteran Wang Yan is here, as well as my lady Li Sheng 👍🏻 I missed seeing Li Sheng on screen! And she only appeared for 4 eps 😭😭😭
I like the story and cinematography. Acting is brilliant. However I can't fully like Zhuang Hanyan. She is so revenge driven, impulsive and blind. She attacks everyone, even venting her hatred and anger to Lingzhi 🤦♀️ No wonder she needs a strategist, bcos her way is "go straight and stab the enemy", Jason style 🤦♀️
Tbh romance is unnecessary for this drama. It could be a suspense, revenge, investigation drama, with both leads merely as allies. Fu Yunxi's feelings was one sided until the last 4 eps. Until then, Zhuang Hanyan's eyes towards him was full of hatred and disgust. So for me the romance wasn't convincing.
This is just my very personal preference: 1. Who did the makeup for Chen Duling? She looks like she is sweating all the time. I have seen countless dewy makeup on korean celebs, but this is not it. 2. What's with the last 2 eps? Suddenly it became Scream or Bloody Mary hanfu version. The only thing I like is when Hanyan closed the gate. 3. Zhuang Shiyang, he looks like he is drunk for 20 years. Eyes half closed, staggering when he walks, unsteady, spouting nonsense. Rather than timid, he looks pretentious and fake.
I am happy to see that most of the princes have made it into the cast. Very often the scriptwriters omit half…

Xiao Changqing only loves his deceased wife and his little brother, Xiao Changying (9th prince). He returns to the court after finding out "someone" is targeting the emperor.
He is extremely smart, as smart as our couple. Xiao Huayong often threatens him to do dirty jobs, while Shen Xihe prefers to ally with him. Xiao Changqing doesn't mind, bcos their target is the same: the emperor dies. He often does things that actually helps the couple.
He doesn't remarry.
