Not really. Her part is the prequel to Legend of Heroes main story. You don't have to watch all 5 parts. The prequel will air around summer 2025. But if you want to see her as the villain, watch Legend of Heroes until ep 18. Tbh that drama is not good, but Meng Ziyi is the reason people watched it. She really stole the highlight since ep 1.

The drama is missing a key character, so idk how will they make Song Han evil.

In the novel, Song Han has been evil since childhood bcos he accidentally knew the truth about his birth. His father has been poisoning Madam Jiang and Song Han helps giving the poison himself. When Song Mo finds out, his hatred to his father and didi reaches MAX. Moreover, both of them ally with Prince Qing and the empress to usurp the throne.

Idk how many will change though... but you can see how Madam Jiang's health keeps getting worse...

Miao Ansu will marry Song Han.
Ji Yong only loves Dou Zhao and he doesn't marry anyone bcos he is simply not interested in women. In this lifetime, he will become an official, close to the crown prince, aspiring to be the prime minister. Well, he might become a monk. Dunno which one the drama will choose.
In the novel, Zhao Zhangru will marry a scholar, but seems like she will marry Chen Jia.

The empress and Prince Qing want to usurp the throne. The emperor has been sick for years. The eunuch, Wang Ge is evil. Wang Yuan is Wang Ge's godfather.

I'm assuming it is Wang Ge based on a glimpse of his face. Wu Shan doesn't have tattoo. Also, in one clip, Wu Shan is seen tied, tortured and collapses.

My assumption: Song Mo was tortured and was saved by Dou Zhao and her people. But perhaps he is being delusional, he accidentally attacks Dou Zhao. There is a clip and poster of him kissing her forehead in this outfits.

Tbh the drama is different from the novel.
1. Dou Shishu, the fifth uncle is very good, both as a person and an official. He cares about his family and respects Dou Zhao and Song Mo as he sometimes help them.
2. Dou Zhao's relationship with his father is very good. They truly care and love e/o. He is devastated when Dou Zhao didn't marry Wei Tingyu, but he immediately arranged a marriage with Song Mo.
3. Dou family has a large number of members, mostly sons with only 3-4 daughters. Dou Zhao is very close to her male cousins and they often help her and Song Mo.

Nothing happens to Dou family except Wang Yingxue lost her favor since before Dou Zhao comes back to the capital to live with her father. They lock her in the backyard, then send her home to Wang family.

In the drama, since Dou Shishu is evil, he perhaps ends up in prison.

The drama is different from the novel. From the trailers and clips, he doesn't remember his past life. He only knows she was the person in his dream and the one whom he met in the story telling house.
