The current MDL synopsis sounds like Boys Over Flowers all over again. But someone below commented it's based on a web novel Daydreaming About Me (白日梦我). This is the novel's synopsis:
The battle for the scholarship was like wildfire. In the entrance of the school director’s office, Lin Yujing and Shen Juan came face to face.
Lin Yujing wore a pitiful look, tears threatening to fall. “Classmate Shen, to tell you the truth, I came from the countryside. My family’s poor and I was originally called Lin Cuihua. With Guo Ji Ming as the director, let's hope this drama will smoothly sail until they're completely released. Meanwhile, I have high expectation for his aesthetic work in this drama as he did in his movies The Ying Yang Master, Wuliang, and Painted Skin. 😊

Why they changed the title from Brotherhood of Blades: Shadow of Mountain and River to Pledge of Allegiance? Sounds like a Chinese patriotic drama instead of wuxia 😉

Redlin is a deity-wannabe, as explained by Yeomra since you already finished the drama. So she's gathering souls to be one. Rembrary is created by Redlin, so he's not a deity himself if she's not. He's just a superpower being, like the grimreapers, but not a deity.
Jang Young-nam's character, Lord Yeomra was also a deity, right?That character was something similar like Kim…
Yup. But Jade Emperor in Tomorrow has a stronger role since she's like the CEO of the enterprise and the whole Tomorrow story is about the grimreapers and their work. In this drama the focus is the priest Rembrary and his mission, so imo Lord Yeomra is just a filler to add a higher-up or powerful deity character into the drama.
Dropped it. I watched it for Zhang He cos I saw him in Lover or Stranger as SML and I wanted to see him again as the ML. The FL is so annoying and the actress who played her is so bland. I wish the young actress who played the little FL could play the character, lol, but she's too young. Many supporting characters (SML, SFL, TFL) are annoying, too. Disappointing.
I woke up, turned on the laptop, and saw all 20 episodes are already subbed. Nice, time for binge-watching! I wish all dramas were released like this, we don't have to wait for subs 😉
